The Truth About Islam

The Truth About Islam

The Truth About Islam

We hear so much folderol these days about Islam being a "peaceful religion." The fact is that Islam is anti-human and anti-woman - the most anti-human and anti-woman ideology on the face of the earth today. We need merely repeat a number of quotes from the Koran itself in order to prove these points. Anyone who claims the opposite is either willfully ignorant or despicably dishonest - and there are far too many people making such erroneous or deceptive assertions.

Let's start with the idiocy that Islam is "peaceful." In the first place, the record speaks for itself: Horrendous barbarism and atrocity repeatedly carried out in the name of Islam, wherever it can be found worldwide over a period of many centuries. Let us examine one of the worst examples of modern history: The horrors perpetrated in Bangladesh. No civilized human being could possibly participate in such atrocities.

http://tbknews.blogspot.com/2006/03/new-wineskins-old-vinegar-mankind.html

3 million deaths and 200,000 rapes - these are the fruits of a "peaceful religion?!"

Fast forward to the millions of foaming-at-the-mouth ranters killing and threatening people worldwide over some cartoons - cartoons that accurately lampooned this hideous ideology. These are the fruits of a "peaceful religion?"

The list of atrocities done in the name of Islam is VERY LONG and includes the ongoing torture of women. Let's proceed with the fallacy that Islam is "peaceful." Here is a quote from the Koran that puts to rest that lie once and for all:

"Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate." Q 9:73

I repeat, anyone asserting otherwise is simply ignorant or a purveyor of falsehood, to say the least.

The treatment of women within Islam is absolutely ABYSMAL - and is contrived to be so, through the manmade set of "laws" found in the Koran, a book with the psychotic qualities of the Bible but none of the "entertaining" stories. It is as if the writers of the Koran set out to chronicle the most atrocious concept of God ever developed. Here is what the Koran says about women:

"Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient." Q 4:34

PLEASE read the other quotes at: http://www.truthbeknown.com/islamquotes.htm

This article ranks no. 1 in the world when "quotes from the koran" is googled, along with a number of other keyphrases.

I will not even go into the horrid mistreatment of boys within Muslim communities - it is a revolting aspect indeed. I have written about this awful psychopathy within Islam for many years, but many still do not know about it. Even though it is unfortunately not widely known, there is an unending epidemic of child abuse - specifically sexual abuse - within Islamic societies, starting, of course, with Mohammed's rape of his 9-year-old "bride." These facts should not be let slip by lightly, as they are the root of much of the sociopathy we are facing with the encroachment of Muslim cultures in the U.S. and elsewhere. With that increase in the U.S., we also have record numbers of emergency-room visits by little girls with their genitals hacked off, a recent case of the psycho in Georgia who cut off his 2-year-old daughter's clitoris with a pair of scissors. Fortunately, this
demented moron received 10 years - because female genital mutilation is illegal in the U.S., as it should be in any CIVILIZED country.

In my opinion, the spread of this fanatically violent and misogynistic ideology is a great threat that we all need to take very seriously. It does not bode well for the civilized world that the purveyors of barbarism are freely trampling over the term "truth." These individuals should NOT be allowed to get away with their spurious and disgraceful assertions but should be loudly called to the carpet.

All in the family Behind the scandal-tainted C Street house is an organization big on protecting its own and small on church ties and theology | Emily Belz, Edward Lee Pitts

"WASHINGTON, D.C.—The national press for the past two months has roasted "hypocritical" Christians who live in or meet in a ministry-owned house on C Street two blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Nevada Sen. John Ensign and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, both talked about this spring as potential GOP presidential candidates in 2012, have acknowledged adulterous relationships. Last month a lawsuit in Jackson, Miss., served notice that former Rep. Chip Pickering, also a Republican, may have carried on in the C Street house an illicit affair with a former college love interest (see "Alienation of affection").

Sustained media attention has focused on whether the C Street house conclaves had contributed to or condoned the breaking of marital vows: Just what was in the water at C Street to prompt the three—all GOP political and social conservatives who a decade ago called for former President Bill Clinton's resignation—to fall into similar scandals of their own?

Motion to dismiss AIG-Shariah lawsuit DENIED

Motion to dismiss AIG-Shariah lawsuit DENIED

US District Ct of Michigan denies USG's motion to dismiss AIG-Shariah lawsuit

May 26, 2009

"In an extremely well-written and soundly analyzed opinion, Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff of the US District Court for the Eastern District Court of Michigan, has denied the U.S. government's motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Kevin Murray. (The full opinion may be downloaded above from this entry's unique url.) Mr. Murray, who is represented by legal counsel David Yerushalmi and the Thomas More Law Center (Richard Thompson and Robert Muise), filed a federal complaint against the Treasury Secretary, representing the U.S. Treasury, and the Federal Reserve Board alleging that AIG's promotion of Shariah in its Shariah-compliant insurance products violates the Establishment Clause because the federal government owns and controls 80% of AIG and AIG's actions have become the government's.

The government filed its motion to dismiss making two arguments. One, Mr. Murray, as a former combat Marine, practicing Catholic, and tax payer, did not have standing to even bring this lawsuit. Two, even if he did have standing, the government acted in buying AIG without any intent to promote or become involved in religious questions.

The Court spent much of its opinion reciting the law on the narrow exception to the no-tax-payer-standing rule. That exception is triggered in a claim of a violation of the Establishment Clause and when there is a specific legislative grant for spending that implicates the First Amendment. The Court carefully reviewed all of the relevant case law and found the argument made by Messrs. Yerushalmi and Muise in their brief persuasive.

On the second issue, the Court put together all of the facts as presented by the Plaintiff's brief and concluded:

Quote:
"In this case, the fact that AIG is largely a secular entity is not dispositive: “The question in an as-applied challenge is not whether the entity is of a religious character, but how it spends its grant.” Kendrick, 487 U.S. at 624–25 (Kennedy J., concurring). The circumstances of this case are historic, and the pressure upon the government to navigate this financial crisis is unfathomable. Times of crisis, however, do not justify departure from the Constitution. In this case, the United States government has a majority interest in AIG. AIG utilizes consolidated financing whereby all funds flow through a single port to support all of its activities, including Sharia-compliant financing. Pursuant to the EESA, the government has injected AIG with tens of billions of dollars, without restricting or tracking how this considerable sum of money is spent. At least two of AIG’s subsidiary companies practice Sharia-compliant financing, one of which was unveiled after the influx of government cash. After using the $40 billion from the government to pay down the $85 billion credit facility, the credit facility retained $60 billion in available credit, suggesting that AIG did not use all $40 billion consistent with its press release. Finally, after the government acquired a majority interest in AIG and contributed substantial funds to AIG for operational purposes, the government co-sponsored a forum entitled “Islamic Finance 101.” These facts, taken together, raise a question of whether the government’s involvement with AIG has created the effect of promoting religion and sufficiently raise Plaintiff’s claim beyond the speculative level, warranting dismissal inappropriate at this stage in the proceedings."
end quote

We reached out to Messrs. Yerushalmi and Muise in a conference call. They both were quite obviously pleased by the well-reasoned opinion. They also said, almost in perfect unison: "There is not a fact in the complaint we cannot prove." Mr. Yerushalmi added, "This case is going to send a loud and reverberating alarm in Washington and in the financial world which is now running full speed and blindly to embrace Shariah-compliant finance."

When the case was first filed, arm-chair First Amendment lawyers (meaning law professors who opine while gathering wood splinters writing arcane law review articles and shotgun blog entries) almost unanimously concluded this case had zero chance to survive a motion to dismiss. Turns out they were wrong. Way wrong.

Indeed, Thomas C. Baxter, Jr., the legal counsel to the New York Federal Reserve, was a participant in a day-long conference at Fordham University's law school entitled, "Islamic Law and Financial Symposium," on February 23, 2009. After he gave the standard rah-rah Shariah finance is a win-win, someone from the audience asked him about the lawsuit. His answer: "While I will not comment on pending litigation, what I can say is that we are absolutely certain that the court will dispense with it very expeditiously."

Ooops!

Maybe it is time for Mr. Baxter and the other government lawyers to enroll in Mr. Yerushalmi's newly published on line continuing legal education (CLE) course designed for financial institution compliance officers, SEC lawyers, Treasury officials, and investors, on the civil liability and criminal exposure risks associated with Shariah-compliant finance (available here.) Maybe then the Baxters of the world could offer their learned opinions rather than just the standard arrogant hot air of a government bureaucrat who insists the government can do no wrong."

Double-Crossed by the Bishop

Double-Crossed by the Bishop

On March 4th 2009, Acharya S (D.M. Murdock) was a guest on "The Sacred Division" radio show, hosted by Bishop James Long. She was asked by them to be on the show to discuss her new book titled "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection" and they told her that they had 1.2 million listeners. She wasn't feeling well but she did the show anyway.

However, it soon became clear that Bishop Long had another agenda. Here are a couple excerpts spliced together in a short youtube video. One is towards the beginning of the show around 10 minutes into the show & the other starting at 5:15 on the youtube version is from around 1 hour into the full version show - where the Bishop gets pissed-off and disrespectfully hangs up on the guest and continues to insult her after he hangs up on her. Later, he incites hatred and violence against the makers of Zeitgeist and all those who had any part in it.
UN "Blasphemy Resolution"

UN "Blasphemy Resolution"

UN Sets Dangerous Precedent with "Defamation of Religions" Resolutions

February 13,2009

"The basic human right to freedom of expression is increasingly under threat as countries introduce and enforce laws that have been wrongfully legitimized by numerous United Nations resolutions on "defamation of religions." In a statement sent to the UN Human Rights Council today, Freedom House and the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty strongly urged members of the council to reject any further resolutions when they meet in Geneva for the upcoming 10th Session March 2-27, and to further reject any attempts to create international instruments or mechanisms that would prohibit "defamation of religions."

The statement explains how such resolutions directly violate international law and can encourage countries to increase the repression of religious minorities, political dissidents and human rights advocates. It points to a 2008 joint report by two UN special rapporteurs that soundly rejects the premise that the rights of religious believers are violated by merely hearing statements critical of their faith: "Defamation of religions may offend people and hurt their religious feelings but it does not necessarily or at least directly result in a violation of their rights."

Several recent high-profile cases have highlighted the growing conflict between freedom of expression and so-called religious "defamation." This month, Indian authorities arrested the editor and the publisher of the Statesman, after Muslims protested the newspaper reprinting an article from the United Kingdom's Independent titled, "Why should I respect these oppressive religions?" The article decried the erosion of the right to criticize religions, including Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

In another case, Random House backed out of a deal last year to publish "The Jewel of Medina," a fictional novel about one of the wives of Muhammad citing concerns that "the publication of this book might be offensive to some in the Muslim community" and that it could "incite acts of violence." In September, Gibson Books announced it would publish the book in the United Kingdom, but the publisher's home and office were fire bombed three weeks later. The book was eventually published in the United States by Beaufort Books.

"Although we are sympathetic to the stated goals of the resolutions of combating intolerance, racism, and religious hatred, we believe that such resolutions do not serve to achieve these goals but rather limit the ability of individuals to raise questions, concerns, and even criticisms at a time when people of all faiths need to engage in more, not less, dialogue," said Freedom House and the Becket Fund.

The full text of the statement follows:

Concern over UN Resolutions on "Combating Defamation of Religions"

1. On the occasion of the 10th Session of the Human Rights Council, Freedom House and the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty express concern over the resolutions on "combating defamation of religions" adopted by the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly since 1999[1]. We urge members of the Council to reject such resolutions in the future and further urge them to reject attempts to create international instruments or mechanisms that would prohibit "defamation of religions."

2. Although we are sympathetic to the stated goals of the resolutions of combating intolerance, racism, and religious hatred, we believe that such resolutions do not serve to achieve these goals but rather limit the ability of individuals to raise questions, concerns, and even criticisms at a time when people of all faiths need to engage in more, not less, dialogue. Moreover, we believe these resolutions directly violate existing international law regarding the fundamental freedoms of expression, thought, conscience and religion.

3. In particular, the resolutions should be rejected on the grounds that 1) the term "defamation of religions" is overly vague, open to abuse, and inconsistent with traditional defamation legislation; 2) the resolutions attempt to provide rights to a belief or idea rather than an individual or group of individuals in contradiction of existing international law; 3) the concept of "defamation of religions" restricts freedom of expression beyond accepted limitations defined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; 4) the concept of "defamation of religions" violates the universal right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; and 5) the concept of "defamation of religions" falsely equates religious belief with race.

Problems with the definition of "defamation of religions"

4. The term "defamation of religions" has not been clearly defined and is therefore subject to misuse and abuse. The legal term "defamation" is typically defined as the spreading of mistruths intended to harm an individual's reputation and livelihood. However, by attempting to apply such a definition to ideas or religious beliefs, which by their very nature conflict with opposing ideas or religious beliefs, it is impossible to evaluate whether ideas or religious beliefs represent truths or mistruths. As was noted in the Becket Fund's "Issues Brief for the OHCHR" of June 2008, "religions make conflicting truth claims and indeed the diversity of truth claims is something that religious freedom as a concept is designed to protect."[2] Thus, the concept of "defamation of religions" can be defined as the expression of ideas or beliefs that simply conflict with or offend the ideas of others.

5. Further, because the resolutions call on States to enact necessary legislation to prohibit the advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred, it would be left up to governments to define whether ideas expressed are offensive or, in the language of the resolution, "defame" a religious belief. Governments would thus be forced to pick and choose among competing faith claims.

6. In countries with domestic laws that use equally vague or poorly defined language to restrict individuals from "defaming" or "defiling" religions, the government often "picks" the majority religion over minority religions. These laws are frequently applied to punish individuals from expressing questions, concerns and criticisms of the majority religion.[3] The application of similar legal mechanisms at the international level would not only legitimate such existing problematic domestic legislation, but would result in a greater proliferation of such legislation to other countries.
Problems with providing rights to a belief or idea rather than individuals

7. International law regarding freedom of religion and expression, as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), has been established to protect individuals and in some case groups of individuals from the violation of their rights. Thus, Articles 18 of both the UDHR and the ICCPR states, "Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion." (Emphasis added.) Articles 19 of both documents define the right of "everyone" to freedom of opinion and expression free from interference. (Emphasis added.)

8. These documents lay out the right of individuals to hold and express beliefs and ideas and are designed to protect them from discrimination based on their beliefs. However, these documents are not intended to protect the beliefs themselves from criticism or even attack.

9. As the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief together with the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, xenophobia and related intolerance wrote in a joint report presented at a special seminar on this topic held by the OHCHR in October, 2008.

"Defamation of religions may offend people and hurt their religious feelings but it does not necessarily or at least directly result in a violation of their rights, including their right to freedom of religion. Freedom of religion primarily confers a right to act in accordance with one's religion but does not bestow a right for believers to have their religion itself protected from all adverse comment."[4]

Violations of freedom of expression

10. Article 19 of the ICCPR states that, "Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice."

11. The right to free expression and the right to impart information and ideas of all kinds is not intended to be absolute, but rather is restricted by Article 20 of the ICCPR, which calls on signatories to create law prohibiting the "advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence." While this language of the ICCPR is itself overly vague and could be better defined, it is our belief that the term "defamation"-because it can be interpreted so broadly-does not necessarily cross the line of inciting discrimination, hostility or violence.

12. In other words, because the definition of "defamation" can be interpreted to include ideas or beliefs that simply conflict with or offend the ideas of others, the term oversteps the restrictions on free expression laid out in international law and places unnecessary and dangerous restrictions on the ability of individuals to freely express conflicting beliefs or to address disagreements through peaceful public debate. Such restrictions will have the opposite effect of increasing religious intolerance and hatred than what the resolutions on "combating defamation of religions" are purportedly designed to combat.

Violations of freedom of thought, conscience, and religion

13. Article 18 of the ICCPR protects not only the freedom to have or adopt a particular religion or belief, but also protects an individual's freedom to manifest his religion or belief.[5] As stated in General Comment No. 22, the freedom to manifest religion includes the sharing of beliefs, thoughts, and ideas.[6] It is this right to manifest belief that allows for inter-religious dialogue efforts to occur within the walls of the UN and around the world. Initiatives like the UN's Alliance of Civilizations[7] and the Saudi Culture of Peace initiative rely upon the free exchange of ideas and beliefs. Yet such initiatives are in direct contradiction to the concept of "defamation of religions."

Conflation of Race and Religion

14. The conflation of race and religion diminishes the uniqueness of both race and religion. Unlike immutable race, religion involves the freedom to follow one's conscience, and implies dialogue and debate with others about the truth claims involved. Treating racial and religious discrimination as the same thing thus confuses racist hate speech with debate about (sometimes controversial) competing truth claims. Whereas one can easily identify and narrowly define racist hate speech, it is not nearly so simple to define what falls into the category of "defamation of religion," which as currently characterized can include any controversial truth claim about someone's religion. Race-based speech restrictions have never been used to cut off discussion about racial identity, whereas the "defamation of religion" measures by definition prohibit controversial discussion of religious belief.

"...What disturbs Wilders supporters even more is the hypocrisy surrounding the Dutch filmmaker’s expulsion. In the past, Great Britain has allowed in true preachers of hate like Muslim Brotherhood personage Yusuf al-Qaradawi, invited by London mayor Ken Livingstone in 2004. Al-Qaradawi has justified suicide bombings and condoned the killing of Israeli women and children because they are “militarised.” A more recent example is Ibrahim Moussawi, who was allowed to enter England last November despite his describing suicide bombers as martyrs and his having broadcast a 30-part series on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion on the television station he heads."

"Amsterdam appellate court says right-wing MP Geert Wilders who directed film accusing Koran of inciting violence must stand trial. 'This is a very black day for freedom of speech,' he says

Right-wing Dutch MP Geert Wilders, who has made a short film accusing the Koran of inciting violence, must be prosecuted for anti-Islam comments, an Amsterdam court said on Wednesday.

The court overruled the public prosecutor who had declined to prosecute Wilders, whose film "Fitna" urged Muslims to tear out "hate-filled" verses from the Koran.

"The Amsterdam appeals court has ordered the prosecution of member of parliament Geert Wilders for inciting hatred and discrimination, based on comments by him in various media on Muslims and their beliefs," the court said in a statement.

"The court also considers appropriate criminal prosecution for insulting Muslim worshippers because of comparisons between Islam and Nazism made by Wilders," the statement said.

"Fitna", a Koranic term sometimes translated as "strife", intersperses shots of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and other bombings with quotations from the Koran. "This is a very black day for me and for freedom of speech. I am shaken. I had absolutely not expected it," Dutch news agency ANP quoted Wilders as saying in an initial reaction.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF.org) co-president AND former Preacher of 20 years, Dan Barker flew to Olympia, Wash. to dedicate the first Winter Solstice display at the Washington State Capitol.

It was STOLEN Dec 5th and later found supposedly in a ditch and brought to a Christian radio station.

Another FFRF co-founder said:

"The incident will not stifle the group's message, Gaylor said. Before reports of the placard's recovery, she said a temporary sign with the same message would be placed in the building's Rotunda. Gaylor said a note would be attached saying, "Thou shalt not steal."

"I guess they don't follow their own commandments," Gaylor said. "There's nothing out there with the atheist point of view, and now there is such a firestorm that we have the audacity to exist. And then [whoever took the sign] stifles our speech."

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Ted said police are checking security cameras.

Meet the New Christian Right

Meet the New Christian Right
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bruce-wilson/meet-the-new-christian-ri_b_141998.html

"In the aftermath of John McCain's defeat in the 2008 US presidential election, American media outlets are issuing the same sorts of predictions, on the imminent death of the American Christian right as a political movement, that mainstream media outlets have floated periodically since the 1980's.

But reorganization within the movement has outstripped almost all media and journalistic scrutiny, and within the last two decades the American Christian right has vectored outwards to become a truly global mass membership movement, an international evangelical imperative.

Two videos presented here present two related faces of the new, now international, Christian right.

One is a 10 minute documentary in which I present the "Seven Mountains" imperative to reclaim key sectors of society. Top leaders in the Seven Mountains have made distinctive, noteworthy statements.

The second video, by Michael W. Wilson (not related to this author), features footage Wilson took during Lou Engle's November 1st, 2008 rally at San Diego's Qualcomm stadium. During the really, Engle calls for Christian martyrs.

There are real connections between the subject materials of these two videos:

Lou Engle is a member, along with Mary Glazier, of C. Peter Wagner's Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders.

Mary Glazier is the leader of the prayer group Sarah Palin joined in 1989 and which became part of C. Peter Wagner's Spiritual Warfare Network.

Wagner's 'valued personal friend', Thomas Muthee, anointed and blessed Sarah Palin in an October 16, 2005 ceremony held at Palin's church of over two decades, the Wasilla, Assembly of God in Wasilla, Alaska.

Muthee and Glazier, both personally tied to Sarah Palin, are also top leaders in the New Apostolic Reformation, under C. Peter Wagner.

Wagner's 500 apostles may preside over as many as 100 million Christians world wide.

One of C. Peter Wagner's apostles owns the Jakarta Tower, which will be among the top 10 buildings on Earth when projected to be completed in 2011.

The New Apostolic Reformation's rise in Brazil mirrors the precipitous decline in Catholic Church membership in Brazil, the fifth most populous nation on Earth.

New Apostolic Reformation ministries are developing partnership relationships with the United States Department of Homeland Security."

An absolute God

If there is such a thing as an absolute, supreme being, then all the cultists who believe in Him are right, and all those who do not are wrong. So the question isn't whether someone is following a cult or not, the question is whether someone is following the supreme absolute truth or not.

Take the Krishna challenge and go to www.krishna.com and see if God in His form of Krishna can be any higher than He is being presented there, and tell me what else you think is missing. Because Krishna the Supreme Personality of Godhead is all inclusive.

First Amendment Will Soon Be Erased

First Amendment Will Soon Be Erased - I'm sharing a comment from Dr. J. Demeo:

"Flush with Victory in the UN, the Organization of the Islamic Conference sets its sights on the USA.

Having failed to launch another 911 in many years, they now send their teams of mullahs and lawyers to do the dirty work. Make it impossible for anyone to point out the dangers and open threats of Islam, and woo everyone with narcotic smoke about what peaceful intentions they have....

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=27175

George Orwell meets the OIC

by Robert Spencer

"We sent a clear message to the West regarding the red lines that should not be crossed."

That sounds like the statement of a victor in a war, dictating terms to the vanquished. And it may well be: free speech is under attack in Canada -- the prosecution of Macleans Magazine and author Mark Steyn -- and in the United States as well by Islamic governments and groups whose goal is to end free speech when it is aimed at exposing the truth about Islamic terrorism and its roots.

Their goal is positively Orwellian. Replace "Big Brother" with the "Organization of the Islamic Conference" and you have the world the OIC wants to impose on us all.

Apparently Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, believes that his powerful, multinational Islamic organization has already won the battle over free speech. Last week he boasted that "the OIC has become an indispensable player at the international level, in many domains." Notably, he said, the OIC, which comprises 57 Muslim governments in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America, has been actively "defending the image of Islam, and combating the phenomenon of Islamophobia." ....

*snip*
Read the whole article at the weblink above.

And while you are at it, if you have the stomach, here's another item revealing the true face of Islamic Purity at work.
http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=e7649576-0ebe-4b4f-b803-9a2c64449c41

Again, Islam is no "religion" but instead is an emotionally-driven all-encompassing totalitarian ideology similar to Nazism or Communism, bent upon world domination, and willing to use every means available towards that goal, including genocide terrorism, economic warfare, smiley-face deception, and legal measures to silence their victims and rob them of the will to resist.

The Mullahs are the Generals, and the Mosques are the Military Headquarters and Propaganda Ministeries.
(Am I still allowed to say that? Just checking.)"

Center for Conscious Living

I might be wrong about the name of this cult, but I made the mistake of renting a room out in my apartment to someone that was involved in this cult, and he and his girlfriend tried to brainwash me. They used a variety of techniques which essentially boiled down to psychological abuse. The longer I waited to get rid of these people, the harder it become. I almost felt like I was sinking in a quicksand of psychological paralysis.

when I did enlist two friends of mine to help get this man and his girlfriend out of the Apartment, the man tried to sucker punch me. I pushed him away from me with the cane that I walk with and called the Police. When the Police arrived, this man started crying and telling the Police that my two friends and I had beaten him up with sticks. He had no marks, so the Police did not beleive him. The man told the Police that he wanted to have me charged with 'Assault' and 'Theft' since 'some of his items seemed to be missing.' The Police seemed willing to press charges but asked this man for his identification, and he seemed reluctant to show the Police any I.D., asking if he could press charges anonymously.

When the Police did remove these two people, no charges were laid on either side. However, the man who tried to brain-wash me and his girlfriend attempted to lay private charges against me and my freinds. These charges were 'forcible confinement' and 'Assault with a weapon'. They had both gone to the trouble of making up a story in order to try and make these charges stick. It took a year until the courts looked at the case, and of course they dismissed it.

One of the freinds I have met on the Atheist tribes here has some knowledge of cults and cult corruption/ brainwashing techniques. He informed me that the 'Center for Conscious Living' is a 'Thelema' type of cult which combines Aliester Crowley ideology with 'Reaganism' from the 80's.

Does anyone on this tribe have any experience with cults, brainwashing, brainwashing techniques, or the Center for Conscious Living?

The Christian Cult -

The Christian Cult -

YES, Fundamentalist Christianity is a CULT!

What is a cult? There are three general definitions of what defines a given group as a cult. They are:

SECULAR DEFINITION OF A CULT -

From the Latin "cultis" which denotes all that is involved in worship, ritual, emotion, liturgy and attitude. This definition actually denotes what we call denominations and sects and would make all religious movements a cult.

CHRISTIAN DEFINITION OF A CULT -

Any group which deviates from Biblical, orthodox, historical Christianity. i.e. They deny the Deity of Christ; His physical resurrection; His personal and physical return to earth and salvation by FAITH alone. This definition only covers those groups which are cults within the Christian religion. It does not cover cults within other world religions such as Islam and Hinduism. Nor does it cover Psychological, Commercial or Educational cults which do not recognize the Bible as a source of reality.

UNIVERSAL DEFINITION OF A CULT -

Any group which has a pyramid type authoritarian leadership structure with all teaching and guidance coming from the person/persons at the top. The group will claim to be the only way to God; Nirvana; Paradise; Ultimate Reality; Full Potential, Way to Happiness etc, and will use thought reform or mind control techniques to gain control and keep their members. This definition covers cults within all major world religions, along with those cults which have no OBVIOUS religious base such as commercial, educational and psychological cults.

Let ’s look at some of the characteristics of a cult. The following list of characteristics is from a Fundamentalist Christian perspective. I will comment as I feel it is appropriate. My comments will be in blue. My source for this list of Cult Characteristics is: Characteristics of a Cult I have identified Fundamentalist Christianity as a cult using THEIR OWN CRITERIA for identifying a CULT! Glory!

- snip -

"From this analysis of Fundamentalist Christianity in light of characteristics that cults commonly share, it should be obvious that Fundamentalist Christianity is a cult –a very, very large, worldwide cult that has operated under the cloak of respectability, supposed harmlessness, and under the guise of godliness for far too long. It is time for the World to wake up and recognize Fundamentalist religion for the DESTRUCTIVE CULT that it is!"

The Facts !

I've had this FWRD sent to me several times now; it’s time to get the FACTS straight. FWRD this everywhere you can please.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Why is there such a mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Why don't we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and SHUT-UP !!!

-------------------------------------------

This is a very misleading & false statement. The fact is that the words "under God" weren't part of the original pledge: They were added in 1954. Supporters of the new wording said it would set the United States apart from godless communism. The original Pledge was published in 1892. It was written by Francis Bellamy, a socialist, thirty-seven year old, ex-Baptist Minister. The original pledge read as:

I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

After a few small changes ("my Flag" to "the Flag of the United States of America") the Pledge stood for a half a century. Then, in 1954 the Cold War started moving into its most intense period. The United States' deep hostility toward communism caused the "Red Scare" to pervade our society. Seizing the opportunity, Senator Joseph McCarthy spearheaded what is now recognized as one of the most shameful epochs of our history. McCarthy looked to demonize any and all whom he disliked by branding them communists. Then, as often happens when pounding the drums of patriotism, religious piety gets mixed in with being a true patriot.

"In god we trust" on U.S. $ -

In 1955, Congress passed a law requiring that "In God We Trust" appear on all U.S. coins and currency. The first paper currency with the motto appeared in 1957. This was right after the McCarthy era, during the early Cold War, when no congressperson would dare be seen voting against "God." "In God We Trust" did appear occasionally on a few coins, starting with a 2-cent piece in the 1860s, in an attempt (it is surmised) to put "God" on the side of the north during the Civil War. In 1956, an Act of Congress adopted "In God We Trust" as a national motto. The original motto, "E Pluribus Unum" ("out of many, [come] one,") celebrating plurality, still appears on the Presidential Seal and on some paper currency.

"14%" - Freethinkers, all together out number any one religious denomination!

"86%" - We have laws that protect minorities from any Tyranny of any majority. No one has any right to tell anyone else to sit down & shut-up. That would be breaking the First Amendment, which includes the Freedom of Speech.

-------------------------------------------

All to often, people misunderstand "separation of church and state" & the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, what it is, what it means & why it was created in the first place.

First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

The U.S. Constitution is a wholly secular & legal document. It contains no mention of Christianity or Jesus Christ. In fact, the Constitution refers to religion only twice –in the First Amendment, which bars laws "respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," and in Article VI, which prohibits "religious tests" for public office. Both of these provisions are evidence that the country was not founded as officially Christian (who's version?). Our nation was founded as a secular government, based on the authority of "We, the People," not a god, king, or dictator. The U.S.A. is the first nation in history to separate church and state. Separation of church and state is the only principle that can ensure religious and philosophical freedom for all Americans. Church-state separation does not mean hostility toward religion. Rather, it means that the government will remain neutral on religious questions, leaving decisions about God, faith and house of worship attendance in the hands of its citizens. The results of America ’s policy of church-state separation can be seen all around us: Thanks to separation of church and state, Americans enjoy an unparalleled amount of religious freedom. In some nations, churches remain dependent upon government for support and aid. Religious life in these nations is often devitalized, and many churches are near empty on Sundays. Other countries merge religion and government into theocracies. Religious liberty cannot flourish under that system either; attempt by the government to enforce a version of religious orthodoxy foster only repression. By contrast, religious liberty has flourished in America and separation of church and state can take the credit.

Today we are an open and free society of nearly 300 million Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, Freethinkers and others. All live side by side in harmony. All have the freedom to proclaim their views. All enjoy the right to worship or not worship unmolested by government officials or state-appointed religious leaders. All are equal in the eyes of the government.

To oppose the separation of church & state is therefore to oppose the First Amendment & is thusly, the most un-American, unpatriotic, hypocritical thing one could do as an American that supposedly values Freedom & Democracy. It is vital for all people to understand very, very clearly that by opposing the separation of church and state they really are infringing upon their own religious liberties & are shooting themselves in their own foot.

Sunday School for Atheists

Sunday School for Atheists

Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007
By Jeninne Lee-St. John / Palo Alto

Sunday morning at The Children's Program at the Humanist Community of Palo Alto, California.

Kathrin Miller for TIME

On Sunday mornings, most parents who don't believe in the Christian God, or any god at all, are probably making brunch or cheering at their kids' soccer game, or running errands or, with luck, sleeping in. Without religion, there's no need for church, right?

Maybe. But some nonbelievers are beginning to think they might need something for their children. "When you have kids," says Julie Willey, a design engineer, "you start to notice that your co-workers or friends have church groups to help teach their kids values and to be able to lean on." So every week, Willey, who was raised Buddhist and says she has never believed in God, and her husband pack their four kids into their blue minivan and head to the Humanist Community Center in Palo Alto, Calif., for atheist Sunday school.

An estimated 14% of Americans profess to have no religion, and among 18-to-25-year-olds, the proportion rises to 20%, according to the Institute for Humanist Studies. The lives of these young people would be much easier, adult nonbelievers say, if they learned at an early age how to respond to the God-fearing majority in the U.S. "It's important for kids not to look weird," says Peter Bishop, who leads the preteen class at the Humanist center in Palo Alto. Others say the weekly instruction supports their position that it's O.K. to not believe in God and gives them a place to reinforce the morals and values they want their children to have.

The pioneering Palo Alto program began three years ago, and like-minded communities in Phoenix, Albuquerque, N.M., and Portland, Ore., plan to start similar classes next spring. The growing movement of institutions for kids in atheist families also includes Camp Quest, a group of sleep-away summer camps in five states plus Ontario, and the Carl Sagan Academy in Tampa, Fla., the country's first Humanism-influenced public charter school, which opened with 55 kids in the fall of 2005. Bri Kneisley, who sent her son Damian, 10, to Camp Quest Ohio this past summer, welcomes the sense of community these new choices offer him: "He's a child of atheist parents, and he's not the only one in the world."

Kneisley, 26, a graduate student at the University of Missouri, says she realized Damian needed to learn about secularism after a neighbor showed him the Bible. "Damian was quite certain this guy was right and was telling him this amazing truth that I had never shared," says Kneisley. In most ways a traditional sleep-away camp--her son loved canoeing--Camp Quest also taught Damian critical thinking, world religions and tales of famous freethinkers (an umbrella term for atheists, agnostics and other rationalists) like the black abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

The Palo Alto Sunday family program uses music, art and discussion to encourage personal expression, intellectual curiosity and collaboration. One Sunday this fall found a dozen children up to age 6 and several parents playing percussion instruments and singing empowering anthems like I'm Unique and Unrepeatable, set to the tune of Ten Little Indians, instead of traditional Sunday-school songs like Jesus Loves Me. Rather than listen to a Bible story, the class read Stone Soup, a secular parable of a traveler who feeds a village by making a stew using one ingredient from each home.

Down the hall in the kitchen, older kids engaged in a Socratic conversation with class leader Bishop about the role persuasion plays in decision-making. He tried to get them to see that people who are coerced into renouncing their beliefs might not actually change their minds but could be acting out of self-preservation--an important lesson for young atheists who may feel pressure to say they believe in God.

Atheist parents appreciate this nurturing environment. That's why Kitty, a nonbeliever who didn't want her last name used to protect her kids' privacy, brings them to Bishop's class each week. After Jonathan, 13, and Hana, 11, were born, Kitty says she felt socially isolated and even tried taking them to church. But they're all much more comfortable having rational discussions at the Humanist center. "I'm a person that doesn't believe in myths," Hana says. "I'd rather stick to the evidence."

Harpur's "The Pagan Christ" documentary aires this week

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation will broadcast on Dec. 6 a documentary based on Tom Harpur's The Pagan Christ.

"THE PAGAN CHRIST Thursday December 6, 2007 at 9pm on CBC-TV
repeating Saturday December 8, 2007 at 10pm ET on CBC Newsworld

So, what if it could be proven that Jesus never existed? What if there was evidence that every word of the New Testament – the cornerstone of Christianity – is based on myth and metaphor? Harpur discovered that the New Testament is wholly based on Egyptian mythology, that Jesus Christ never lived, and that – indeed – the text was always meant to be read allegorically."

Sam Harris at AAI 07 part 1 VIDEOS

I had an Idea based off of Sam's video.

Sam Harris at the Atheist Alliance International conference in Washington, DC. 2007 - "Sam Harris at AAI 07 pt1 of 2"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok2oJgsGR6c

We have fire alarms to alert us of the danger of smoke or fire. A brilliant invention that saves lives. We now have a "Homeland Security Advisory System" color code chart to alert us of the dangers of terrorism.
http://www.answers.com/topic/homeland-security-advisory-system

We need a "FAITH" threat alarm of some sort. Of course, who determines what that threat is? It depends of what ones beliefs are but there's another Idea in & of itself - a reasonable code to compare it to. A set of guidelines if you will, which will help us determine when the threat of faith or fundamentalism of any kind has become overly threatening. Be it theistic or atheistic.

Thoughts please?

Cult methods

What is Free Minds, Inc. all about?

We are...

...people who care about other people who are in authoritarian religions.

...networking with others who care.

...warning the public of cults and their deceptive recruiting techniques, and efforts to create fear and isolation in new recruits.

Randall Watters is the founder of Free Minds, Inc. (formerly Bethel Ministries) and has been engaged in the work of freeing people from the mind control bondage of cults for the last twenty years.

Randall was a Jehovah's Witness for eight years, from 1972 to 1980, and served as an elder and factory overseer at the Watchtower headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. He left the organization by way of resignation in 1980, became a Christian and served as a pastor for a number of years, most recently at the now-defunct Hope Chapel of West Manhattan. Leaving the pastorate and organizational ties to focus on cults and exit-counseling only, Randall formed Free Minds, Inc. as a non-profit educational organization in 1992, with the goal of educating the public about mind control and the danger of cults.

The purpose of FREE MINDS, INC. (a registered non-profit organization) is to educate the public about the methods that ALL cults use, and how to combat them. If you have a loved one or relative involved in a cult, or suspect they are, read on.

How do I know if a religious, political or psychological organization is a cult?

Cults use the following agenda:

RECRUITMENT

Deception - The group's identity and/or their real motives are not revealed at first. The group's leaders tell members to withhold information about the group from outsiders.

Love Bombing - Cults offer instant friendship and acceptance. Recruiters will not take no for an answer without making you feel guilty or ungrateful. If you say yes, guilt and obligation will increasingly be used to lower your defenses.

Exploit Personal Crisis - Situations such as a broken relationship, death in the family, loss of job, recent move, and loneliness as well as depression are exploited.

Crisis Creation- The world around you and even other believers are seen in a darker light, or the end of the world is imminent, etc. You must be part of this group to be saved or healed.

Answers- The group has over-simplified answers to life's questions for every question you ask. Theirs are the ONLY answers.

PROGRAMMING

Intense Study - The focus is on group writings and doctrine. The Bible, if used, is quoted selectively but out of context.

Warnings - Recruits are told that Satan will cause relatives and friends to say bad things about the group. Recruits soon trust only group members.

Guilt and Fear - Groups focuses on individual's sinful nature and the need to purge the old personality.

Schedule Control, Fatigue - Study and service to group are mandatory, taking up almost all the time of the new member, making them too busy to question or to listen to others. Family, friends, jobs and hobbies are squeezed out, further isolating the new member.

Attack Independent Thought - Critical thinking is discouraged as prideful and sinful. Blind acceptance is encouraged.

Divine Commission - Group leader(s) claim new revelations from God, and that they are God's sole spokesmen to mankind today.

Black and White Mentality - All issues have simple answers, and require unquestioning obedience to the group. "Us against them" thinking strengthens group identity. Everyone outside of the group is labeled as weak or misled.

RETENTION

Motives Questioned - When sound evidence against the group is presented, members are taught

to question the motives of the presenter. What is verifiable is

ignored due to what is non-verifiable.

Information Control - Group controls what member may see or hear. Forbids contact with ex-members or anyone critical of the group.

Isolation and Alienation - Group becomes a substitute family and is taught that no others are needed, including natural family. Members may be told to quit school, leave home, give up sports, etc.

Coercion - Disobedience, including even minor disagreement with group doctrine will result in shunning and expulsion.

Phobias - Fear of the world and other people is magnified, as is fear of the devil or evil. Members are taught that something very bad will happen to them if they leave the group. No honorable way out of the group.

Striving - Group membership and service are essential for salvation. No matter what you do, it is never enough.

RESULTS

Dependency - Member adopts a childlike dependency on the group.

Personality Disorders - Depression, disorientation, anxiety, stress, neurotic or psychotic behavior and even suicidal tendencies may result.

Diminished Capacity - Members lose ability to think clearly and critically. Logical contradictions in doctrine have little or no impact on member.

Broken Relationships - Family and friends are cast aside.

Exploitation - Member is exploited financially, physically and/or mentally. May be manipulated into giving all possessions to group, leaving school or job to put in long hours selling literature or other items, providing low cost labor for the group, etc.

Why do group members:

give up family, friends, school and careers?
see their strange new lifestyle and behavior as being normal?
fail to recognize manipulation by the group leaders?
seem unaffected by proof of lies and contradictions in group doctrine?
desperately avoid anything critical of the group?
Because they lack a free mind!

Confessions of an Empath

Confessions of an Empath

"It's time for me to come clean about why I do what I do. You see, I'm an agent. Yep, that's right - I am an agent for change.

Seriously, I do what I am doing because I cannot stand the notion of suffering - anywhere in the cosmos, much less here at home on good ol' planet Earth. My motives practically since birth have been the same: I am sickened by violence, injustice and man's inhumanity to man and other creatures.

A little known fact about me is that I spent the first decade of my life becoming physically ill at the mere thought of violence. My family shielded me from violence, but still it managed to creep into my innocent psyche through images in the media, in movies, TV, books and magazines. I recall one Life magazine photo of a bloated corpse being pulled from an African river - a more grotesque sight my child eyes had never seen before.

I didn't vomit at that image, but I did puke all over the upstairs hallway after my older sibling explained to me what a "leper" was, as I was watching the movie "Ben Hur." As it was described to me, leprosy was "where your fingers and other body parts turn black and fall off." Not exactly a clinical definition, but it sufficed to have me running for the bathroom. I didn't make it.

Nor did I make it to the barf bag my family had brought especially for me to the drive-in movie theater, where we watched the scene of a man being hung in front of a jeering mob during the era of the American Wild West. Nope, that time the candy took the hit, as I grabbed the wrong paper sack. Needless to say, my siblings weren't thrilled at losing the candy.

Prior to the Ben Hur incident was a nightmare at grade school - fourth grade, when I was 9 years old. The kids in my class were surrounding one pupil, looking at a photo sent by his penpal and going, "Ooohhhh, grossss!" The children were also laughing, so I peeked over the boy's shoulder to see what they were looking at.

To my horror and shock, the photo was a picture of an American GI holding the severed heads of two Vietnamese soldiers - and smiling. I immediately backed up from this diabolical image, turned around and walked away, choking back tears and vomit. I was incompassionately pursued by the other children, who ridiculed me for not being a "good American," because these slaughtered human beings were "the enemy." Horrified, I looked to the teacher for relief, but she seemed to be joining in the finger wagging!

A Decisive Moment

That moment in my life was decisive. I knew then that I was very different from most people. I had seen an image of two human beings viciously murdered, while the others had seen "the enemy." I've never tortured or killed anyone, and I cannot even stand the sight of such atrocities; yet, I feel sometimes as if I'm all alone on this planet.

At some point during my first decade on this planet, it was suggested to me that, in order to survive in the world, I would need to become "inured" to its horrors. If by "survival" is meant that I couldn't go on barfing, I agree. And for many years I managed to push hideous atrocities out of my mind. A couple of decades later, I finally woke up, once and for all. I will never become inured to the horrors of this world. I am simply too emphathetic not to feel the evil that men do. Indeed, my empathy was the mechanism by which I would become sickened and vomit as a child. I would actually feel the terror, pain and suffering of individuals as they were tortured and killed. I am still feeling the suffering of my brothers and sisters globally, and I am compelled to expose this suffering and help it to heal.

Unfortunately, there are some very evil characters on this planet, and their sickness is infectious enough to have spread far and wide to what amounts to millions of people. These loathsome characters have created their clones and drones, desensitizing them to a mind-numbing level of violence against other living and breathing human beings. The crimes of these evil creatures are beyond comprehension, including but not limited to:

* torture of all manner
* floggings, lashings and beatings
* beheadings
* slitting throats
* stonings
* hangings from cranes and other devices
* hacking off hands and feet
* rape - gang and individual of both genders
* child abuse, including rape and sodomy
* animal abuse
* "honor killings"
* female and male genital mutilation
* depriving women of air and sunlight, and subjecting them to sweltering heat beneath black or other dark-colored clothing
* acid attacks on women's faces and other body parts
* slavery
* genocide

Most sickening, these atrocities and crimes against humanity are being committed by entire groups of people in the name of God! In other words, these horrors are unleashed as a major part of "religion." Is it any wonder there are "angry atheists" speaking out against the very notion of an all-powerful, good and merciful God in charge of everything? If the scenario just listed is "godly," what the hell is satanic?!

Every day, day in and day out, these vile thugs are grabbing people - including children of both genders - against their will and doing heinous and evil things to them. In all too many places, these montrous tyrants get away with this despicable behavior all the time, because they are allowed and commanded to do so by the governing authorities, both political and religious. Psychotically, these sadists believe themselves correct and righteous in seizing other living, breathing beings against their will and beating, torturing and murdering them. These savages have such power that large groups of people are under their dominion - and they are not content to stop there.

Who is stopping these constant abuses against innocent human beings? Who can these voiceless victims turn to for respite and salvation? As a person of empathy, I am feeling their pain and suffering - and I am outraged by their persecutors' audacity and megalomania. This unmitigated hubris of vilely destroying God's creatures is absolutely ungodly.

And it must be stopped, because it's making not only me but all of us sick. If there has ever been any creator, it seems "he" has long abandoned his flawed creation to its own devices, much to the dismay of all rational and compassionate human beings. That is to say, all true human beings. I can only fervently hope that there are enough of us true human beings to stand up to these sadistic bullies wherever they may be found."

Excellent blog!

Thanks so much for sharing. It gives me a better understanding of why you write to expose religion for what it really is. It can be a place for murderers & worse to hide out in the name of their god & particular holy book. The point of your books is not about being anti-religion, your books are much more about actually being human.

Your work is at the top of the list of some of the greatest gifts to humanity I've ever seen. Keep up the great works!"

Why Women Need Freedom From Religion

Why Women Need Freedom From Religion

Organized religion always has been and remains the greatest enemy of women's rights. In the Christian-dominated Western world, two bible verses in particular sum up the position of women:

"I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."--Genesis 3:16

By this third chapter of Genesis, woman lost her rights, her standing--even her identity, and motherhood became a God-inflicted curse degrading her status in the world.

In the New Testament, the bible decrees:

"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."--1 Tim. 2:11-14

One bible verse alone, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" (Exodus 22:1Cool is responsible for the death of tens of thousands, if not millions, of women. Do women and those who care about them need further evidence of the great harm of Christianity, predicated as it has been on these and similar teachings about women?

Church writer Tertullian said "each of you women is an Eve . . . You are the gate of Hell, you are the temptress of the forbidden tree; you are the first deserter of the divine law."

Martin Luther decreed: "If a woman grows weary and at last dies from childbearing, it matters not. Let her die from bearing, she is there to do it."

Such teachings prompted 19th-century feminist Elizabeth Cady Stanton to write: "The Bible and the Church have been the greatest stumbling blocks in the way of woman's emancipation."

The various Christian churches fought tooth and nail against the advancement of women, opposing everything from women's right to speak in public, to the use of anesthesia in childbirth (since the bible says women must suffer in childbirth) and woman's suffrage. Today the most organized and formidable opponent of women's social, economic and sexual rights remains organized religion. Religionists defeated the Equal Rights Amendment. Religious fanatics and bullies are currently engaged in an outright war of terrorism and harassment against women who have abortions and the medical staff which serves them. Those seeking to challenge inequities and advance the status of women today are fighting a massive coalition of fundamentalist Protestant and Catholic churches and religious groups mobilized to fight women's rights, gay rights, and secular government.

Why do women remain second-class citizens? Why is there a religion-fostered war against women's rights? Because the bible is a handbook for the subjugation of women. The bible establishes woman's inferior status, her "uncleanliness," her transgressions, and God-ordained master/servant relationship to man. Biblical women are possessions: fathers own them, sell them into bondage, even sacrifice them. The bible sanctions rape during wartime and in other contexts. Wives are subject to Mosaic-law sanctioned "bedchecks" as brides, and male jealousy fits and no-notice divorce as wives. The most typical biblical labels of women are "harlot" and "whore." They are described as having evil, even satanic powers of allurement. Contempt for women's bodies and reproductive capacity is a bedrock of the bible. The few role models offered are stereotyped, conventional and inadequate, with bible heroines admired for obedience and battle spirit. Jesus scorns his own mother, refusing to bless her, and issues dire warnings about the fate of pregnant and nursing women.

There are more than 200 bible verses that specifically belittle and demean women. Here are just a few:

(See Woe To The Women: The Bible Tells Me So for a more comprehensive list)
Genesis 2:22 Woman created from Adam's rib
3:16 Woman cursed: maternity a sin, marriage a bondage
19:1-8 Rape virgins instead of male angels

Exodus 20:17 Insulting Tenth Commandment, considering a wife to be property
21:7-11 Unfair rules for female servants, may be sex slaves
22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live"
38:8 Women may not enter tabernacle they must support

Leviticus 12:1-14 Women who have sons are unclean 7 days
12:4-7 Women who have daughters are unclean 14 days
15:19-23 Menstrual periods are unclean
19:20-22 If master has sex with engaged woman, she shall be scourged

Numbers 1:2 Poll of people only includes men
5:13-31 Barbaric adulteress test
31:16-35 "Virgins" listed as war booty

Deuteronomy 21:11-14 Rape manual
22:5 Abomination for women to wear men's garments, vice-versa
22:13-21 Barbaric virgin test
22:23-24 Woman raped in city, she & her rapist both stoned to death
22:28-29 Woman must marry her rapist
24:1 Men can divorce woman for "uncleanness," not vice-versa
25:11-12 If woman touches foe's penis, her hand shall be cut off

Judges 11:30-40 Jephthah's nameless daughter sacrificed
19:22-29 Concubine sacrificed to rapist crowd to save man

I Kings 11:1-4 King Solomon had 700 wives & 300 concubines

Job 14:1-4 "Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one . . ."

Proverbs 7:9-27 Evil women seduce men, send them to hell
11:22 One of numerous Proverbial putdowns

Isaiah 3:16-17 God scourges, rapes haughty women

Ezekiel 16:45 One of numerous obscene denunciations

Matthew 24:19 "[woe] to them that are with child"

Luke 2:22 Mary is unclean after birth of Jesus

I Corinthians 11:3-15 Man is head of woman; only man in God's image
14:34-35 Women keep in silence, learn only from husbands

Ephesians 5:22-33 "Wives, submit . . ."

Colossians 3:18 More "wives submit"

I Timothy 2:9 Women adorn selves in shamefacedness
2:11-14 Women learn in silence in all subjection; Eve was sinful, Adam blameless

Why should women--and the men who honor women--respect and support religions which preach women's submission, which make women's subjugation a cornerstone of their theology?

When attempts are made to base laws on the bible, women must beware. The constitutional principle of separation between church and state is the only sure barrier standing between women and the bible.

For more information about the treatment of women in the bible, read the books Woe to the Women: The Bible Tells Me So by Annie Laurie Gaylor and The Born Again Skeptic's Guide to the Bible by Ruth Hurmence Green.

Ritual Circumcision - "Circumcision is the first commandment given by God to Abraham, the first Jew, and is central to Judaism.

"This is My covenant that you shall observe between Me and you and your children after you, to circumcise your every male. You shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall become the sign of a covenant between Me and you"
Genesis 17:10-11
"And on the 8th day he shall have his foreskin circumcised" (Leviticus 12:3)

"Circumcision is the most commonly performed surgical procedure in the United States today."

- Does this mean that the penis is NOT an intelligent design on Gods part? Outside of the US in many Islamic countries, It is the mutilation of the female that is rampant.

What you need to know...

# No national or international medical association recommends routine circumcision.
# Only the USA circumcises the majority of newborn boys without medical or religious reason.
# Circumcision began during the 1800s to prevent masturbation, which was believed to cause disease.
# Today's parents are learning that the foreskin is a normal, protective, functioning organ.
# Today's parents realize circumcision has risks and is unnecessary.
# Circumcision denies a male's right to genital integrity and choice for his own body.

Jesus's Tomb Found - Really?

Jesus's Tomb Found - Really?
by Acharya S

Those of us who have been studying the Jesus myth for long enough not only have seen this coming, but we've already addressed it, because the "Jesus's tomb found!" crowing is as old as the hills. This latest load of hooey pops up, of course, right in time for Easter, when we will be bludgeoned with the hideous tale of the gentle Lord and Savior of the cosmos being brutally beaten and sacrificed - to himself, in an expiatory ritual somehow designed to remove the sins of the weak and beggarly creatures this all-powerful Lord created in the first place.

As outlined in my books The Christ Conspiracy and Suns of God, the creation of holy relics to bolster a flagging faith constitutes ancient priestcraft of the first order. No self-respecting priesthood could be without such fabrication, and this latest bit of legerdemain is hardly anything outstanding within this long line of chicanery and treachery.

"Our job is to reclaim America for Christ, whatever the cost. As the vice regents of God, we are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society." - D.
Tarot Cards Explained

Tarot Cards Explained

I saw this on the History channel & thought it was an interesting topic. Turns out, there is no reason to "believe" in tarot whatsoever. They didn't appear to be taken seriously for divination use until the 18th-19th centuries when a few books were written popularizing the Tarot.

While the exact sources of tarot are not completely known, the earliest reliable information suggests tarot originated as a game in 15th century Italy by adding to a normal deck of cards 21 trump cards, a fool, and 4 queens of each suit. Some early tarot decks of north Italian origin, which date to the early to mid-15th century, have remained. These were called carte da trionfi or "cards of the triumphs". Soon afterwards, the cards came to be known as tarocchi.

It is unknown when the tarot was first used for divination, but there are no documented uses of tarot cards for divination prior to the 18th century. There is no evidence for any tarot cards prior to the hand-painted ones that were used by Italian nobles, but some esoteric schools believe its origins could be in Ancient Egypt, Ancient India or even the lost continent of Atlantis. Such beliefs in non-Italian origins, however, are speculative.

Since 1781, when Antoine Court de Gebelin published his "Le Monde Primatif", in which he claimed Tarot cards held the "secrets of the Egyptians", without producing any evidence to sustain his claims, Tarot cards have been written about by many esoterians who have advanced speculative views on the history of Tarot cards. From this mystical vantage-point, the origin and history of the Tarot is unclear and often idealized.

The Tarot cards eventually came to be associated with mysticism and magic. This was actually a late rather than early development, as we can tell from period sources on card divination and magic. The Tarot was not widely adopted by mystics, occultists and secret societies until the 18th and 19th century. The tradition began in 1781, when Antoine Court de Gébelin, a Swiss clergyman and Freemason, published Le Monde Primitif, a speculative study which included religious symbolism and its survivals in the modern world. De Gébelin first asserted that symbolism of the Tarot de Marseille represented the mysteries of Isis and Thoth. Gébelin further claimed that the name "tarot" came from the Egyptian words tar, meaning "royal", and ro, meaning "road", and that the Tarot therefore represented a "royal road" to wisdom. Gébelin asserted these and similar views dogmatically; he presented no clear factual evidence to substantiate his claims. In addition, Gébelin wrote before Champollion had deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs. Later Egyptologists found nothing in the Egyptian language that supports de Gébelin's fanciful etymologies, but these findings came too late; by the time authentic Egyptian texts were available, the identification of the Tarot cards with the Egyptian "Book of Thoth" was already firmly established in occult practice.

Tarot became increasingly popular beginning in 1910, with the publication of the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, which took the step of including symbolic images related to divinatory meanings on the numeric cards. (Arthur Edward Waite had been an early member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn). In the 20th century, a huge number of different decks were created, some traditional, some vastly different.

"Conspiracy of Silence: Child sex ring that reached Bush Sr's White House"

"Conspiracy of Silence: Child sex ring that reached Bush Sr's White House"

Please be sure to checkout the photos of the newspaper clippings & the section "About the Video".

Conspiracy of Silence, a documentary listed for viewing in TV Guide Magazine was to be aired on the Discovery Channel, on May 3, 1994. This documentary exposed a network of religious leaders and Washington politicians who flew children to Washington D.C. for sex orgies.

Many children suffered the indignity of wearing nothing but their underwear and a number displayed on a piece of cardboard hanging from their necks when being auctioned off to foreigners in Las Vegas, Nevada and Toronto, Canada.

At the last minute before airing, unknown congressmen threatened the TV Cable industry with restrictive legislation if this documentary was aired. Almost immediately, the rights to the documentary were purchased by unknown persons who had ordered all copies destroyed.

A copy of this videotape was furnished anonymously to former Nebraska state senator and attorney John De Camp who made it available to retired FBI Agent Ted L. Gunderson. While the video quality is not top grade, this tape is a blockbuster in what is revealed by the participants involved.

THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION

"THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION:
WHY AMERICANS WILL BELIEVE ALMOST ANYTHING"

This is a long article but give it a good going over you'll be glad that you did.

"Aldous Huxley's inspired 1954 essay detailed the vivid, mind-expanding, multisensory insights of his mescaline adventures. By altering his brain chemistry with natural psychotropics, Huxley tapped into a rich and fluid world of shimmering, indescribable beauty and power. With his neurosensory input thus triggered, Huxley was able to enter that parallel universe described by every mystic and space captain in recorded history. Whether by hallucination or epiphany, Huxley sought to remove all bonds, all controls, all filters, all cultural conditioning from his perceptions and to confront Nature or the World or Reality first-hand - in its unpasteurized, unedited, unretouched infinite rawness.

Those bonds are much harder to break today, half a century later. We are the most conditioned, programmed beings the world has ever known. Not only are our thoughts and attitudes continually being shaped and molded; our very awareness of the whole design seems like it is being subtly and inexorably erased. The doors of our perception are carefully and precisely regulated. Who cares, right?

It is an exhausting and endless task to keep explaining to people how most issues of conventional wisdom are scientifically implanted in the public consciousness by a thousand media clips per day. In an effort to save time, I would like to provide just a little background on the handling of information in this country. Once the basic principles are illustrated about how our current system of media control arose historically, the reader might be more apt to question any given story in today's news.

If everybody believes something, it's probably wrong. We call that

CONVENTIONAL WISDOM

In America, conventional wisdom that has mass acceptance is usually contrived: somebody paid for it. Examples:

- Pharmaceuticals restore health
- Vaccination brings immunity
- The cure for cancer is just around the corner
- Menopause is a disease condition
- When a child is sick, he needs immediate antibiotics
- When a child has a fever he needs Tylenol
- Hospitals are safe and clean.
- America has the best health care in the world.
- Americans have the best health in the world.
- Milk is a good source of calcium.
- You never outgrow your need for milk.
- Vitamin C is ascorbic acid.
- Aspirin prevents heart attacks.
- Heart drugs improve the heart.
- Back and neck pain are the only reasons for spinal adjustment.
- No child can get into school without being vaccinated.
- The FDA thoroughly tests all drugs before they go on the market.
- Pregnancy is a serious medical condition
- Infancy is a serious medical condition
- Chemotherapy and radiation are effective cures for cancer
- When your child is diagnosed with an ear infection, antibiotics should be given immediately 'just in case'
- Ear tubes are for the good of the child.
- Estrogen drugs prevent osteoporosis after menopause.
- Pediatricians are the most highly trained of al medical specialists.
- The purpose of the health care industry is health.
- HIV is the cause of AIDS.
-AZT is the cure.
- Without vaccines, infectious diseases will return
- Fluoride in the city water protects your teeth
- Flu shots prevent the flu.
- Vaccines are thoroughly tested before being placed on the Mandated Schedule.
- Doctors are certain that the benefits of vaccines far outweigh any possible risks.
- There is a terrorist threat in the US.
- There is a bioterrorist threat in the US.
- The NASDAQ is a natural market controlled by supply and demand.
- Chronic pain is a natural consequence of aging.
- Soy is your healthiest source of protein.
- Insulin shots cure diabetes.
- After we take out your gall bladder you can eat anything you want
- Allergy medicine will cure allergies.

An airliner can be flown with professional precision by a group of crazed amateurs into a 100-storey building and can cause that building to collapse on its own footprint. Twice.
This is a list of illusions, that have cost billions to conjure up. Did you ever wonder why most people in this country generally accept most of the above statements?

PROGRAMMING THE VIEWER

It goes on ...

"Da Vinci Code" vs. "Left Behind"

"Da Vinci Code" vs. "Left Behind"

Ya know, I was just thinking. Nobody seemed to care about the mass genocide of non-believers during the apocalypse , armageddon in the infamous "Left Behind" series.

There appears to be a monumental double-standard going on here. It's perfectly fine to bash & destroy nonbelievers & send them to an eternal suffering & torment in Hell but when someone like Dan Brown writes a fiction he & his movie & book are attacked. Today they had a "Da Vinci Code" book burning!!! The Fundies are preparing for the new, modern Inquisition as we speak. Many fundies believe "Left Behind" to be nonfiction since it is about the 'end times' as described in 'Revelation' the last book in the bible.

It gives xianity the opportunity for the largest human mass genocide in history to rid itself of non-believers so that the entire world may then finally agree with them. Xians claim that everything changed with the new testament - even though it started off with their god allowing the execution of his only begotten son as a blood-ritual sacrifice & ends in "Revelation" with an apocalypse / armageddon. The bottom line is, If you're not a believer in jesus/christianity, you go to hell. Religion has been used to justify war, slavery, sexism, racism, homophobia, mutilations, intolerance, and oppression of minorities. - there is no moderation there whatsoever.

The Religious Tolerance website says:

"...during the second coming of Christ, Christ "will exterminate one third of the earth's population in a massive genocide. It will be numerically the largest mass extermination of humans in history".

Enjoy this 'A Brief History of the Apocalypse'
http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm

Maybe non-believers need to start protesting before it's to late???

ODAN = "Opus Dei Awareness Network" - is a worldwide community of people who have had painful experiences as a result of their association with Opus Dei.

Opus Dei has stirred up controversy in countries all over the world. Families of Opus Dei members are almost never involved in the vocation process, (in fact Opus Dei itself often discourages its new members from even telling their families about their decision!) Also questionable are Opus Dei's recruiting tactics, which are comparable to the tactics used by cultic groups.

Perhaps most controversial is the effort to canonize Opus Dei's founder, Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, who died in 1975 and was beatified amidst substantial controversy in 1992, and was canonized on October 6, 2002 in Rome, Italy. See ODAN's opposition to the canonization.

How Major Corporations and Government Plan to Track your Every Move with Radio Frequency Identification

How Major Corporations and Government Plan to Track your Every Move with Radio Frequency Identification
Enjoy the VIDEO - http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/01/1447202

We speak with Liz McIntyre, author of "Spychips: How Major Corporations and Government Plan to Track your Every Move with RFID" that examines radio frequency identification - a technology that uses tiny computer chips to track items at distance. Major corporations are working right now to install RFIDs on all consumer products. What about in you arm? Or in your kids? We also speak with freelance journalist Annalee Newitz who recently had an RFID implanted in her arm. "Imagine a world of no more privacy.

"Where your every purchase is monitored and recorded in a database, and your every belonging is numbered. Where someone many states away or perhaps in another country has a record of everything you have ever bought, of everything you have ever owned, of every item of clothing in your closet -- every pair of shoes. What's more, these items can even be tracked remotely.

"Once your every possession is recorded in a database and can be tracked, you can also be tracked and monitored remotely through the things you wear, carry and interact with every day.

"We may be standing on the brink of that terrifying world if global corporations and government agencies have their way. It's the world that Wal-Mart, Target, Gillette, Procter & Gamble, Kraft, IBM, and even the United States Postal Service want to usher in within the next ten years.

"It's the world of radio frequency identification.

"Radio frequency identification, RFID for short, is a technology that uses tiny computer chips -- some smaller than a grain of sand -- to track items at distance. If the master planners have their way, every object -- from shoes to cars -- will carry one of these tiny computer chips that can be used to spy on you without your knowledge or consent."

Those are the opening words of the book, "Spychips: How Major Corporations and Government Plan to Track your Every Move with RFID." Today we are joined by one of the co-authors of "Spychips" - Liz McIntyre.

We now take a look at what lies behind the shocking images of torture at Abu Ghraib prison by turning to the history of the CIA and torture techniques. Professor Alfred McCoy talks about his book “A Question of Torture”, a startling expose of the CIA development of psychological torture from the Cold War to Abu Ghraib. CIA mercenaries attempted to assassinate McCoy more than 30 years ago.

Prove Christ exists, judge orders priest

It's Interesting that this is happening in Italy -- home of the Vatican.

---

Prove Christ exists, judge orders priest
From Richard Owen in Rome

AN ITALIAN judge has ordered a priest to appear in court this month to prove that Jesus Christ existed.

The case against Father Enrico Righi has been brought in the town of Viterbo, north of Rome, by Luigi Cascioli, a retired agronomist who once studied for the priesthood but later became a militant atheist.

Signor Cascioli, author of a book called The Fable of Christ, began legal proceedings against Father Righi three years ago after the priest denounced Signor Cascioli in the parish newsletter for questioning Christ’s historical existence.

Yesterday Gaetano Mautone, a judge in Viterbo, set a preliminary hearing for the end of this month and ordered Father Righi to appear. The judge had earlier refused to take up the case, but was overruled last month by the Court of Appeal, which agreed that Signor Cascioli had a reasonable case for his accusation that Father Righi was “abusing popular credulity”.

Signor Cascioli’s contention — echoed in numerous atheist books and internet sites — is that there was no reliable evidence that Jesus lived and died in 1st-century Palestine apart from the Gospel accounts, which Christians took on faith. There is therefore no basis for Christianity, he claims.

Signor Cascioli’s one-man campaign came to a head at a court hearing last April when he lodged his accusations of “abuse of popular credulity” and “impersonation”, both offences under the Italian penal code. He argued that all claims for the existence of Jesus from sources other than the Bible stem from authors who lived “after the time of the hypothetical Jesus” and were therefore not reliable witnesses.

Signor Cascioli maintains that early Christian writers confused Jesus with John of Gamala, an anti-Roman Jewish insurgent in 1st-century Palestine. Church authorities were therefore guilty of “substitution of persons”.

The Roman historians Tacitus and Suetonius mention a “Christus” or “Chrestus”, but were writing “well after the life of the purported Jesus” and were relying on hearsay.

Father Righi said there was overwhelming testimony to Christ’s existence in religious and secular texts. Millions had in any case believed in Christ as both man and Son of God for 2,000 years.

“If Cascioli does not see the sun in the sky at midday, he cannot sue me because I see it and he does not,” Father Righi said.

Signor Cascioli said that the Gospels themselves were full of inconsistencies and did not agree on the names of the 12 apostles. He said that he would withdraw his legal action if Father Righi came up with irrefutable proof of Christ’s existence by the end of the month.

The Vatican has so far declined to comment.

Solar Mythology & Astrotheology -

"It is abundantly evident that mankind's predominant religious worship globally for many thousands of years has been Astronomical and Astrological, and that this Astrotheology has continued within the faiths popular today. These facts, however, have been hidden under a cloak of historicity, with the Astromythological players being presented as "real people".

One who understands the Solar Mythology or Astrotheology is one who knows the nature of "godhead" and the divine. Without this knowledge, humanity continues to wallow in erroneous concepts that blind it to its unity and allow for dangerous divisiveness."

COG/The Family

Some Facts
David Brandt Berg (1919 - 1994) founded The Family (formerly known as The Children of God) in 1968. Supposedly a fundamentalist Christian movement, The Family gradually implemented several harmful practices that Berg promoted. These include:

Adult-child sexual relations
In a 1980 internal Family publication, Berg instructed his followers that:

There's nothing in the world at all wrong with sex as long as its practiced in love, whatever it is, or whoever it's with, no matter who, or at what age or what relative or in what manner.

Berg had sexual relations with his granddaughter and other young girls. For over a decade, adult members sexually abused thousands of children. In a 1995 custody case, Lord Justice Ward of the High Court of England ruled that:

There was widespread sexual abuse of young children and teenagers by adult members of The Family, and this abuse occurred to a significantly greater extent within The Family than occurred in society outside it.

While The Family has stopped the abuse, no effort has been made to compensate the victims, nor prosecute the abusers.

Religious prostitution
For over a decade Berg pressured female Family members to prostitute themselves (also known as Flirty Fishing) in order to win converts, gain influence, and increase financial support. The Family raised millions of dollars in this manner.

Sexual promiscuity
Extramarital and premarital sex is an integral part of The Family's beliefs and lifestyle.

**********

Currently The Family is led by Berg's former companion, Karen "Queen Maria" Zerby and her partner, Steve "King Peter" Kelly, both of who live in hiding and demand unquestioning loyalty from their followers. They too have promoted the sexual abuse of children. In a 1992 internal Family publication, Zerby wrote:

I feel we need to somehow explain to our children and Teens that love and loving affection is not wrong. Having actual intercourse with a child wouldn't be okay, but a little fondling & sweet affection is not wrong in the eyes of God, & if they have experienced the same in the past they weren't "abused."

The Family is an unregistered, underground organization that rejects any financial accountability. Family members must give between 11% and 15% of their income to support The Family's leaders and infrastructure.

Family Connections

Due to the controversial history of The Family, as well as its current beliefs and practices, few members identify themselves as such when soliciting donations and fund- raising. Instead, they claim to be "independent missionaries" or representatives of the following organizations, which Family leaders created.

Family Care Foundation (FCF)
EIN 33- 0734917. (www. familycare. org)
A California public benefit corporation, FCF attempts to attract tax- exempt charitable donations for ventures run by Family members.

Activated Ministries
(www. activated. org) Activated holds seminars and publishes several magazines in order to win converts and supporters for The Family.

Aurora Productions AG
(www. auroraproduction. com ) Queen Maria and King Peter control this secretive company. Based in Zug Switzerland, Aurora owns the copyrights to all Family products.

What Can You Do?

Practice responsible, informed charitable giving.
Know where your charitable donations are going and how they will be used. Will any funds be passed on to unnamed secondary groups?

Ask questions and expect clear answers.
Ask representatives of these organizations about their relationship to The Family. If they are Family members, request an explanation about their beliefs and practices and how donations are used. Then decide if you wish to facilitate their fundraising or support them with charitable giving.

"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"

"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"

Ever hear the phrase, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it"? That's what's happening when Fundamentalists use this statement. They have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul - they claim they are being persecuted.

Fundamentalists see this "persecution" as biblical proof of being on God's side. It's not. Their so-called persecution is merely the rest of society defending itself from their attacks. Their so-called persecution is merely being called to the carpet for their actions. Their so-called persecution comes in the form of editorials that don't paint them in a glowing light or legislation that goes against their made-truths. If they can't get their schools to allow them to pray to their God during class time, they claim they are being attacked. What would happen if Buddhists and Muslims tried to get the same special rights? Fundamentalists would be beside themselves in anger.

This is not the persecution mentioned in the Bible. The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism."

Judges Say No To Koran, Yes To Bible

Religion In Court: N.C. Judges Say No To Koran, Yes To Bible

Some North Carolina county judges are revealing the constitutional pitfalls of requiring religious oaths in courtrooms.

When a Guilford County Muslim woman went before Judge Tom Jarrell regarding a domestic family dispute, she requested to be sworn in on the Koran, but neither the judge nor the courthouse had one available. She was told either to swear herself in as a witness by placing her hand on the Bible and promise to tell the truth or raise her hand and give affirmation to be honest.

Syidah Mateen did not forget that experience and has mounted a campaign to allow citizens to be sworn in before court proceedings on other religious texts, specifically the Koran. At her suggestion, the Al-Ummil Ummat Islamic Center offered Korans to the Guilford County courthouses in early July only to be rebuffed by the county's top judge.

Guilford Senior Resident Superior Court Judge W. Douglas Albright, according to the News & Record , told the Islamic group "An oath on the Quran is not a lawful oath under our law."

One of the county's judges, however, told the Islamic group that it could donate a Koran or two to the courthouse law libraries.

This already muddled picture was not helped by the Administrative Office of the Courts in Raleigh, which issued a preliminary opinion during the same week Albright declined the Korans. The AOC's opinion stated that North Carolina law does allow citizens to be sworn in using the Koran or other religious text rather than a Bible.

The ACLU of North Carolina joined the fray with a letter to the AOC arguing that state Supreme Court precedent recognizes the validity of faiths other than Christianity and that state officials "must allow all individuals of faith to be sworn in on the holy text that is in accordance with their faith."

The easier solution would be to dump religious oaths from court proceedings. Traditions do die, some with great difficulty and consternation. Citizens before their public courts should be required to tell the truth under penalty of law; they should not be required, pressured or even asked to take a religious oath before engaging in business before those courts.

Indeed, a judge presiding in two other North Carolina counties has realized as much. Last year Judge James M. Honeycutt ordered court officials to remove all references to God in the courtrooms and during oaths. Honeycutt's action caused uproar and stirred the state Supreme Court to get involved, ordering Honeycutt to reverse his policy.

The Great Commission

"The Great Commission"

The quotes below are refering to what is known as "the great commission". So, Christians do actually believe that Jesus has commanded all believers to take over & dominate the world, for christ. In order to accomplish this task, they need to abolish the separation of church & state in the US & around the world. Which is why they so desparately want to get so involved in politics.

Matthew 28:19-20
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

"Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land - for Jesus Christ - to have dominion in civil structures, just as in every other aspect life & godliness. It is dominion we're after not just a voice. It is dominion we're after not just influence. It is dominion we're after not just equal time. It is dominion we're after. World conquest. That's what Christ has commissioned us to do."

If the Republicans hold their current strength, or increase it, in the 2006 Congressional elections, expect this measure to pass allowing Bush to remain President ... '

N.C. church stands by sign saying Quran "should be flushed"

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The pastor of a small Baptist church has refused calls to take down a sign posted in front of his church reading "The Koran needs to be flushed," saying Tuesday he has nothing to apologize for.

"My creed is the Bible, which tells me I am supposed to stand up and defend my faith," said the Rev. Creighton Lovelace, pastor of the 55-member Danieltown Baptist Church in Forest City. "I don't hate Muslims, I just hate their false doctrines."

Theocracy Watch.org

“Religious freedom is one thing, ”says Joan Bokaer, director of TheocracyWatch, a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics, and Social Policy (CRESP) at Cornell University. “But religious extremism is something completely different. What people aren’t aware of is just how deeply the radical religious right has penetrated our government —in all three branches. We really are very close to becoming a theocracy. People have reason to be worried.”

http://www.theocracywatch.org/symposium_200403.htm

------------------------------------

"I Want a Theocratic Nation!"

Looking for the perfect society? Do you think a theocracy, where religion is the law of the land and where God rules over all His peaceful people, is the Utopia we’re all looking for? Can’t wait for the Bible to be all we need to reduce crime, eliminate gangs, and bring prosperity to all? Think again. A theocratic society is one of the most destructive societies known to man. Time and again, theocracies have proven to us—up to present day—that they are not only not peaceful utopian societies, but rather the antithesis of all that is ethical or moral or just in a society. And just for the record, the US is NOT a Christian nation. That implies a theocracy. It implies the establishment of a state religion. There is no state religion in the US, thus we are not a theocracy. We are a secular country.

Historical Background
Let’s look briefly at several time periods where theocracies ruled. Without going into detail, I’ll cite some broad events of European history. Christians generally sweep under the rug that the Crusades destroyed an entire democratic society in southern France in the Middle Ages—murdering some 20,000 people (men, women and children) in their fervor. They seem to have amnesia about why Ireland is in chaos. Oh, here's why: the strained notion of theocracy being the leader of men, instead of men’s brains is the cause. The Balkans has been a tinderbox for centuries—starting with the Serbs and the Turks—and did anyone mention that it's an Eastern Orthodox vs. Muslim problem? The widespread death and destruction in East Timor was as much about about the Muslim majority vs. a Roman Catholics minority as it was about elections for independence. Israel heads off all out nuclear war by keeping the religious right wing of its population from gaining control, then turning that power against the Islamic nations that surround it. And, especially, Christians turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the hundreds of years of Perfect Christian Rule where the Spanish Inquisition caused tens of thousands to die over the simple notion that they might want to choose their own god—but more often than not it was for no real reason at all. John Calvin attempted to make Geneva a perfect Christian city. What ended up happening was what perfect Christianity does...suppress the truth and suppress all that is good and decent. And Michael Servitus was burned at the stake for speaking the truth. What about New England around 400 years ago? Well, Quakers were hanged and burned when a perfect Christian society was established. When Spain attempted the same, Jews were killed, burned and made to leave that country. Jews have been purged in country after country for centuries by 'god fearing Christians'.

Everywhere you look in history, you find that theocracies place superstitious beliefs superior to natural law or to laws that man has worked out in concert.

It's no fair saying that these problems are caused by a few people who weren't following the intent of Christianity. Hey people...that is the intent of Christianity—history is replete with the examples. You can't blame a few people who follow that religion and say they're the bad apples. The religion itself is the apple tree. The bad apples fall from the bad tree. With a theocracy in place, the end result is destruction.

A fundamentalist Christian-based theocracy would inevitably lead to it’s own collapse, but not before bringing down a lot of people, institutions and resources along with it. History is my witness! In fact, if Christian “values” were put into place today in the US, this what you can expect:

The 10 Commandments strung up all over the place with few other laws to supplement them. Oops, that's already happened. The erosion of the separation of church and state has already begun.

To wit, history has recorded this event: In Anniston, Alabama, Ralph Reed stating plainly “As long as there’s breath in our bodies, the 10 Commandments will never come down from this courtroom” (www.reagan.com from the 4-14-97 rally in Montgomery County, AL). Of course, he was referring to the fact that a judge had placed a copy of the 10 commandments in his courtroom.

Furthermore, did you know that Congress has already passed a bill that lets public schools display the 10 Commandments? Further attempts to circumvent pluralism.

Fundies already carry signs, have t-shirts and bumper stickers with the following phrases on them:

“Intolerance is Beautiful”,
“Hatred is a Bible Value”
“God said it,
I Believe it,
That Settles It”.

The further injection of mythology in place of evidential science in the classroom (creationism), etc.

The ruling in Kansas schools may well be just the beginning if we're not vigilant.

Theocracy=Totalitarianism=Violence
When you look very closely you find that a rise in religious fervor parallels a rise in violence. Let’s take modern day examples now. "Reverend" Phelps runs from state to state with his hate-filled family and launches tirade after tirade against gays—even dead ones at their funerals. Women’s right to choose is targeted by murderers claiming to be Christian messengers. Legislators claiming to be born-again Christian stand on the steps of their state capitols and tell us with a straight face that gun control is not necessary, but rather a deeper religious (Christian, of course) conviction is the real answer. I ask you, why do youngsters go on shooting rampages in their schools in the most Christian of rural areas? The more people you have attending church, the more crime there is (the state of LA has more church-goers than any other state in the US—yet twice the national murder rate). The World Church of the Creator supposedly has followers all over the US who “know in their hearts” that violence is the only way to deal with their inadequacies. So, Jews, gays, and other minorities are violently murdered in a Christian manner. Yes, they are a fringe group, but they are Christian aren't they? They use the Bible as their weapon and not a single Christian denomination has attempted to silence them. Wake up people: violence is fostered by and follows religion, and, in the US, by Christian ideals. It always has—and continues to this day. Again, it's not fair to say that these are the views of splinter groups...they're all Christians!

Swaying weak-minded people with passionate oratory is the hallmark of those such as Jerry Farwell, Pat Robinson, James Dobson, Gary Bauer and Ralph Reed, and others of the evangelical ilk. Indeed, their perfect America would be one where the “bully pulpit” would be manned by one of them—perhaps even a Christian Junta.

Here are just a few of the thousands of quotes from Ralph Reed when he was Exec Dir. of the Christian Coalition:

"I honesty believe that in my lifetime we will see a country once again governed by Christians . . . and Christian values.

What Christians have got to do is take back this country, one precinct at a time, one neighborhood at a time, and one state at a time."

"We've learned how to move under radar in the cover of the night with shrubbery strapped to our helmets,"

"They call them extremists. We have our own names. We call them senators, congressman, governors, mayors..."

"I want to be invisible. I do guerrilla warfare. I paint my face and travel at night. You don't know it's over until you're in a body bag. You don't know until election night."

He already rewrote history by claiming that the country would once AGAIN be governed by Christians--when it was never run by Christians in the first place. And I could quote a lot more people, but I've made my point.

They would have the only reference book necessary to them, they would be able to espouse the 'One True Truth' that’s required and they would have all the Christians looking up at them waiting for the delivery of God’s perfect word. I can see it this way since that's the way Christians take in their 'word' now. They look up to their religious leaders to tell them what's so. After all, they're just worms. How could they be expected to actually read their Bible for themselves when there are clearly others around who have and who know how to manipulate it for their own insidious means. Hmmm, I smell totalitarianism in the works. I think I can name a few of those failed totalitarian experiments: Khomeni, Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, and more recently, the Bosnian Serb death camp leader named Radovan Karadzic. (Slobodan Milosovic could be included in this group since his argument was as much religious as it was ethnic, ie, Eastern Orthodox v. Muslim). Each of these political leaders uses or used their religion to wield power and control. In fact, Hitler was a Catholic, was never ex-communicated from the Catholic church and used his Christian upbringing (along with then-existing, Lutheran-induced hatred) to rend Europe apart. (Oh, and how about that Pope Pius, "Hitler's Pope"?)

Theocracy and Government
Moving over to the Muslim countries, in Tehran, Iran in 1999, the coexistence of a theocratic state with a democracy showed what happens when the two ideals clash: demonstrations in the streets, tear gas, shots fired, people killed, people hauled away to jail, newspapers closed. Yes, those demonstrations could have been just like dozens in any country that have happened over the last 30 years. But those demonstrations had special meaning. They were started by educated people realizing what's been taken away from them by clerics. What would you think if your leaders said to you, “Liberties will only be allowed within the framework of the supreme clerical rule established in Iran after the [1979] revolution (CNN, July 13,1999). Hardly a sympathetic statement to an educated ear.

Iran is your modern example that theocracies and democracies can’t coexist, are fundamentally at odds with each other, and do not succeed.

Moving over to Africa you find two countries, Christian ones, that have taken Christianity a step backward. Those two countries are Kenya and Uganda. In September 1999, the President of Kenya (Daniel arap Moi) stated, "It is not right that a man should go with another man or a woman with another woman. It is against African tradition and Biblical teachings." Huh? Well, what you have is another theocratic president espousing incomplete and entirely inaccurate Bible teachings. The President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, stated one day earlier that gays were guilty of abominable acts. I assume that means those who have never had sex with their own gender as well. He went further tho and ordered his Criminal Investigations Department to look for gays, lock them up and charge them with this religious felony. He is quoted as saying, "Even the Holy Bible spells it out clearly that God created Adam and Eve as wife and husband, but not men to marry fellow men." How this fits same-sex relationships is not clear since the right to marry the same gender is non-existent in all African countries. What we have is government mixed with religion. What you end up with is Christian intolerance, Christian non-ethics and Christian immorality.

In the US, the Republican political party would do well to take these examples of history and current events into account as they address those in our nation who are listening. You can’t have a democracy and expect to insert or replace it with one’s personal mythology or superstition (read: religion, and in this case Christianity). It won't work. If it works for you then you use it at home. I know all about your mythology, buddies, and it's fraudulent.

The fact that the US Republican party aligns itself with a religious faction is a sign that they have nothing solid with which to base its politics. In the US a political party by its very definition is designed to minister to the secular and practical needs of a people. It is not designed to affiliate itself with or espouse a religious belief system. It is NOT designed to determine what morals you or I will follow. Gosh, I think the Constitution makes that VERY clear. But, despite this, the US Republican party has decided to align itself with right wing Christian conservative religious beliefs. These beliefs are headed by a small group of conservatives who believe in what’s commonly called “post-millennial Christianity”. Simply put, they can’t wait for the “second coming” to “make things right”, so they’ll just do it themselves (it’s not surprising that they’re tired of waiting after two whole millennia). They’ve rewritten history to produce a brand new history of the making of the US. They believe (and the watchword is 'believe') with mass zealousness that the US was founded as a Christian nation.

Anyone who has studied the history of the founding of the US is well aware that the US was nowhere near being a Christian nation at the time of its founding. The region of North America that was to become the US was colonized fully 150 years before the US became a nation. The original people who arrived were so religiously fanatic that they were kicked out of their country. They were the religious people, not the founders of the US, who were well aware of the tyranny of so-called God-sanctioned governments. In fact, polls at the time of the founding of the US showed that less than 10% of the population of the entire 13 colonies called themselves Christian at that time. I'm not making this up. You can see this for yourself in any large atlas found in any library. Look for the pages on historical geographical boundaries and the population distribution of the time. That's how I found it myself—by accident—since it's certainly not something that a religionist will tell you. You’ll find that along with other interesting statistical information about the early days of the new republic..

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison, Thomas Paine, Ethan Allen and Ben Franklin are on record as not being Christians.

Hey, you, Christian religionist, did you forget that those people were the founders of our country? Christians conveniently forget all of this. Most likely, tho, they don’t know it.

Some Christian orators, tho, speak for hours about the Christian origin of this nation as if they were there taking notes while the founders talked. Unfortunately, they are incorrect. Yes, there is plenty of religious activity that accompanies governmental activity. But it's because of the fact that certain members of government were and are members of a church or other religious institution. In addition, during the first days of the republic, legislators lived very far from their homes. In some cases it took weeks to get home. Quite a few amenities of home could be found in Philly and DC at the time...including church services in government halls.

It's when modern legislators push a specific brand of Christianity—fundamental proselytizing Christianity—as absolute truth and expect us to follow them like lost people that's the problem.

By regurgitating (ie, vomiting) the Christian fundamentalist party line, our Republican party has forgotten a very important point about the creation of the US. Our Constitution was written in a time when not a single country had ever been created out of an ideal. All countries at that time were founded because of historical, ethnic or religious reasons. Ours was created because of a set of ideals that a group of men decided on. They didn’t look to Jehovah to write anything on a tablet or on a wall, nor did they create our Constitution out of divine revelation. They founded our country based on man-made ideals in the Age of Enlightenment. There is no reference to Jesus, nor is there a reference to Jehovah or Christianity in the Constitution. Christians craft a stealth method of pretending that we're a Christian nation by pointing to the reference of “the Creator”. Sorry, it denotes the god of nature, not your religion. Don’t take my word for it, read the US Constitution for yourself. And read books that were written by and about the men who created that document. You'll find out for yourself.

Eventually, as the Republican politico-religious system evolves it could end up back to its roots of mainline politics working for people. On the other hand, it may eventually evolve into a religious party outright—perhaps even creating a splinter group. The danger is that even tho these conservatives are small in number now (vocal tho they may be), if we forget what happened in Germany in the 1930s (the Nazi party won with only 15% of the vote) we could easily live thru our own unique brand of religious fervor if not outright religious terror. It's happened before, it's alive in fundamentalist Islamic countries today, and it could easily happen again.

Conclusion
Religious authority fosters violence and mayhem—historical evidence is loud and clear. Religious leadership generates intolerance, hatred, death camps, injustice, black and white morality, and the loss of humanity wherever it exists and wherever it has ever existed. Religion-based nations retard civilization and rewrite history. They require as part of their tenets the suppression of knowledge, thought or discussion; the alteration of past history, ignorance of the present, and the denial of basic human needs. In short, the regression—not the progression—of the people who are governed.

Theocracy fails because the premise is false. Theocracies are based on mythology. Mythology is only story, and by definition, is not truth. Theocracies are not based on anything tangible or provable, much less useful for uplifting humanity. In short, a theocracy is the antithesis of society, the antithesis of civilization, the opposite of a just and humane world.

"War on nature"

We are in a situation in the world today that begs the question, "How did we get to this point?". In my own investigation I've discovered a war on nature. This war on nature can be traced to the root of so many of the problems in our world today. It's time to shed some light on this war. In order to make any necessary changes, we must first be aware of the problems. An intelligence study investigates all sides of an issue. I'm going to share one with you now.

A good starting point on religion may be to learn how Christianity has distanced itself from nature & why. As people came to perceive god as a singular supremacy up in heaven detached from the physical world, they lost their reverence for nature. In Christian eyes, the physical world became the realm of the devil. A society that had once celebrated nature through seasonal festivals began to commemorate biblical events bearing no connection to the earth. Time, once thought to be cyclical like the seasons, was now perceived to be linear. In their rejection of the cyclical nature of life, orthodox Christians became more focused upon death rather than life. Since earthliness is synonymous with sinfulness throughout most of the Bible. The church chose the image of Pan, the Greek god of nature, to portray the devil. The horned, hoofed, & goat-legged man had been associated with a number of fertility figures & had been previously deemed essential to rural well-being. With Pan's guidance, all the mythical creatures of earth were thought to work in harmony. Satan was changed by Christianity into a personification of everything God was not - and since God was supposed to be “good”, Satan was necessarily “bad”.

With the Church struggling to incorporate vast numbers of people who still understood the world in pagan, pantheistic, polytheistic context. Most people thought that everything within the physical world was imbued with a sense of the divine, that there was little separation between spirit and matter, and that divinity was personified in many different faces. Witch-hunting, the inquisition is what secured the conversion of Europe to orthodox Christianity. The persecution of witches was the official policy of both the Catholic & Protestant Churches. The Church invented the crime of witchcraft. The terror of the witch hunts convinced common people to believe that a singular male God reigned from above, that he was separate from the earth, that magic was evil, that there was a powerful devil, and that women were most likely to be his agents. This is well documented. Many museums in Europe still have on display detailed records of the “trials” and “confessions” of the victims.

St. Augustine's personal distaste for astronomy alone held back advances in the study of the heavens for 12 centuries! This made astronomy illegal, evil & of the devil.

It is well documented that long before the invention of the 12 month calendar & mechanical clock. There existed the 13 month calendar that was widely used. How clever that the writers of the bible changed that calendar to the 12 month calendar & then write in Daniel 7:25 (NIV) to say - "He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time." When it is clear that the writers of the bible themselves are those responsible that have first “changed the set times”, the calendar.

A little clarity & we begin to realize that this APOCALYPSE: ARMAGEDDON is not so much a war between good & evil but, more like a war against nature. The question everyone needs to be asking is - Who stands to gain most from such a war? How about the those that wrote the bible? Why do so many wealthy church organizations have secret underground bunkers? Those pre-invited to these shelters already know who they are. This war is against nature & the nature of life. This is why the 13 Moon calendar has been rejected. The World 13 Moon calendar properly in place, there is no need for any war, a micro-chipped population, money, & certainly no need for any authoritarian religion that does not freely allow universal laws & principles to be applied in our daily lives. As soon as one anthropomorphizes &/or Personifies god then, one must decide if god is male/female, black/white, animal/human/alien etc ... thus, all the confusion, holy wars & war on nature.

The point here is to wake-up, not point fingers at who is right or wrong. We are all on the same global team here. We must not blame the followers but, realize the time has come to be more mindful in where we place our beliefs. If they are so important to us then, why don't we question them with more careful examination? Shouldn't our beliefs meet at least some kind of minimum requirements? We all have a right & a responsibility to any truth without guilt or fear. Even if we do not have the answers we should admit that we don't know. It is arrogant to claim that we do! It should be okay to be skeptical & want to VERIFY our beliefs. We all live on the same planet Earth.

There is no greater disrespect towards creation than to destroy the life on this planet or elsewhere. The time has come to greatly respect all of life everywhere with religious & Freethinker folk united in this common ground. Blood knows no borders & nature, knows no religion.
WASHINGTON - More than a dozen lawmakers attended a congressional reception this year honoring the Rev. Sun Myung Moon where Moon declared himself the Messiah
Reverend Sun Myung Moon is a religous nut who is trying to take over the world. Moon openly admits that he thinks he is God and he expects to be worshipped! As you read the folling excerps from Moon's web site, you will see how deeply rooted the Moonies are in the press, the Christian evangelical movement, and the Republican Party. If you're a member of the Press, a Christian, or a Republican, this should scare the Hell out of you.

Are We Becoming a Theocracy?

How Dominion Theology Is Subverting the U.S. Constitution

TheocracyWatch executive director Joan Bokaer and some of the other member of the TheocracyWatch speakers bureau are on the road this season, especially in Pennsylvania.

Joan Bokaer has been tracking the religious right for 20 years. In this talk Joan examines dominionism in U.S. government, tracking the key players in this movement and exposing their plan to remove the barriers between church and state and replace the U.S. Constitution with Biblical law. Joan ’s meticulously researched evidence —in the form of congressional voting records, party platforms, speeches, legislation, and media reports —illustrates just how dramatically their seizure-by-stealth of much of the political system has succeeded.

We hope you will be able to come to some of the talks, and please spread the word! The talk lasts about 50 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A session.

“Religious freedom is one thing, ”says Joan Bokaer, director of TheocracyWatch, a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics, and Social Policy (CRESP) at Cornell University. “But religious extremism is something completely different. What people aren ’t aware of is just how deeply the radical religious right has penetrated our government —in all three branches. We really are very close to becoming a theocracy. People have reason to be worried. ”

What Is A Freethinker -

What Is A Freethinker?

free-think-er n. A person who forms opinions about religion on the basis of reason, independently of tradition, authority, or established belief. Freethinkers include atheists, agnostics and rationalists.

No one can be a freethinker who demands conformity to a bible, creed, or messiah. To the freethinker, revelation and faith are invalid, and orthodoxy is no guarantee of truth.

How do freethinkers know what is true?
Clarence Darrow once noted, "I don't believe in God because I don't believe in Mother Goose."

Freethinkers are naturalistic. Truth is the degree to which a statement corresponds with reality. Reality is limited to that which is directly perceivable through our natural senses or indirectly ascertained through the proper use of reason.

Reason is a tool of critical thought that limits the truth of a statement according to the strict tests of the scientific method. For a statement to be considered true it must be testable (what evidence or repeatable experiments confirm it?), falsifiable (what, in theory, would disconfirm it, and have all attempts to disprove it failed?), parsimonious (is it the simplest explanation, requiring the fewest assumptions?), and logical (is it free of contradictions, non sequiturs, or irrelevant ad hominem character attacks?).

Do freethinkers have a basis for morality?
There is no great mystery to morality. Most freethinkers employ the simple yardsticks of reason and kindness. As author Barbara Walker notes: "What is moral is simply what does not hurt others. Kindness . . . sums up everything."
Most freethinkers are humanists, basing morality on human needs, not imagined "cosmic absolutes." This also embraces a respect for our planet, including the other animals, and feminist principles of equality.

Moral dilemmas involve a conflict of values, requiring a careful use of reason to weigh the outcomes. Freethinkers argue that religion promotes a dangerous and inadequate "morality" based on blind obedience, unexamined ultimatums, and "pie-in-the-sky" rewards of heaven or gruesome threats of hell. Freethinkers try to base actions on their consequences to real, living human beings.

Do freethinkers have meaning in life?
Freethinkers know that meaning must originate in a mind. Since the universe is mindless and the cosmos does not care, you must care, if you wish to have purpose. Individuals are free to choose, within the limits of humanistic morality.
Some freethinkers find meaning in human compassion, social progress, the beauty of humanity (art, music, literature), personal happiness, pleasure, joy, love, and the advancement of knowledge.

Doesn't the complexity of life require a designer?
The complexity of life requires an explanation. Darwin's theory of evolution, with cumulative nonrandom natural selection "designing" for billions of years, has provided the explanation. A "Divine Designer" is no answer because the complexity of such a creature would be subject to the same scrutiny itself.
Even a child knows to ask: "If God made everything, then who made God?"

Freethinkers recognize that there is much chaos, ugliness and pain in the universe for which any explanation of origins must also account.

Why are freethinkers opposed to religion?
Freethinkers are convinced that religious claims have not withstood the tests of reason. Not only is there nothing to be gained by believing an untruth, but there is everything to lose when we sacrifice the indispensable tool of reason on the altar of superstition.

Most freethinkers consider religion to be not only untrue, but harmful. It has been used to justify war, slavery, sexism, racism, homophobia, mutilations, intolerance, and oppression of minorities. The totalitarianism of religious absolutes chokes progress.

Hasn't religion done tremendous good in the world?
Many religionists are good people--but they would be good anyway.

Religion does not have a monopoly on good deeds. Most modern social and moral progress has been made by people free from religion--including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Charles Darwin, Margaret Sanger, Albert Einstein, Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Marie Curie, H. L. Mencken, Sigmund Freud, Bertrand Russell, Luther Burbank and many others who have enriched humanity.

Most religions have consistently resisted progress--including the abolition of slavery; women's right to vote and choose contraception and abortion; medical developments such as the use of anesthesia; scientific understanding of the heliocentric solar system and evolution, and the American principle of state/church separation.

Do freethinkers have a particular political persuasion?
No, freethought is a philosophical, not a political, position. Freethought today embraces adherents of virtually all political persuasions, including capitalists, libertarians, socialists, communists, Republicans, Democrats, liberals and conservatives. There is no philosophical connection, for example, between atheism and communism. Some freethinkers, such as Adam Smith and Ayn Rand, were staunch capitalists; and there have been communistic groups which were deeply religious, such as the early Christian church.
North American freethinkers agree in their support of state/church separation.

Is atheism/humanism a religion?
No. Atheism is not a belief. It is the "lack of belief" in god(s). Lack of faith requires no faith. Atheism is indeed based on a commitment to rationality, but that hardly qualifies it as a religion.

Freethinkers apply the term religion to belief systems which include a supernatural realm, deity, faith in "holy" writings and conformity to an absolute creed.

Secular humanism has no god, bible or savior. It is based on natural rational principles. It is flexible and relativistic--it is not a religion.

Why should I be happy to be a freethinker?
Freethought is reasonable. Freethought allows you to do your own thinking. A plurality of individuals thinking, free from restraints of orthodoxy, allows ideas to be tested, discarded or adopted.

Freethinkers see no pride in the blind maintenance of ancient superstitions or self-effacing prostration before divine tyrants known only through primitive "revelations." Freethought is respectable. Freethought is truly free.
CIA's MK-Ultra -

On August 3rd, 1977 the 95th U.S. Congress opened hearings into the reported abuses concerning the CIA's TOP SECRET mind control research program code named MK-Ultra. On February 8th, 1988, a top-level MK-Ultra victim, Cathy O'Brien, was covertly rescued from her mind control enslavement by Intelligence insider Mark Phillips. Their seven year pursuit of Justice was stopped FOR REASONS OF NATIONAL SECURITY. TRANCE Formation of America exposes the truth behind this covert government program and its ultimate goal: psychological control of a nation.

TRANCE Formation of America is the first documented autobiography of a victim of government mind control. Cathy O'Brien is the only vocal and recovered survivor of the Central Intelligence Agency's MK-Ultra Project Monarch operation. Tracing her path from child pornography and recruitment into the program to serving as a top-level intelligence agent and White House sex slave, TRANCE Formation of America is a definitive eye-witness account of government corruption that implicates some of the most prominent figures in U.S. politics.

------------------------------------------

"It is perfectly possible for a man to be out of prison, and yet not free - to be under no physical constraint and yet to be a psychological captive, compelled to think, feel and act as the representatives of the national state, or of some private interest within the nation, wants him to think,
feel and act.

"The nature of psychological compulsion is such that those who act under constraint remain under the impression that they are acting on their own initiative. The victim of mind-manipulation does not know that he is a victim. To him the walls of his prison are invisible, and he believes himself to be free. That he is not free is apparent only to other people. His servitude is strictly objective."

the Devil/Evil fraud

The best evidence in the "god fraud" lies in the very well documented "devil/satan fraud". A personification / Anthropomorphization of a devil was needed in order to control by the use of fear tactics. The devil/satans home, hell of course. Where you, as a sinner will burn for all eternity.

"The Hebrew Satan was changed by Christianity into a personification of everything God was not - and since God was supposed to be “good”, Satan was necessarily “bad”. Alluring or mysterious deities from religions competing with early Christianity - such as the Hellenic/Roman Mysteries and the Persian Mithraic faith - were also “bad”, hence the Christian Satan was decorated with many of their characteristics, such as Pan’s horns & cloven hoofs. Non-Christian gods generally were redefined as Christian “demons” and given a place in the Christian “Hell” (another name stolen and perverted, this time from ancient Norse mythology).

Christian propaganda notwithstanding, there is no record of any actual “Satanic religious underground” throughout the course of Christian European history. The myth of such a “witch cult”, however, was promoted and actively used by the Christian churches to terrorize their followers into docile obedience and to eliminate those who could not be threatened. The number of accused “Satanists” tortured and burned to death in medieval and Renaissance Europe will never be known conclusively, but estimates run as high as 13 million. Many European museums still display the grisly, almost unbelievably cruel devices used in such torture, and detailed records of the “trials” and “confessions” of the victims survive in shameful abundance.

religious thoughts

How many sons (suns) of god are there?

OK, a little quiz. Who am I talking about?

He was born to a virgin by immaculate conception through the intervention of a holy spirit. This fulfilled an ancient prophecy. When he was born the ruling tyrant wanted to kill him. His parents had to flee to safety. All male children under the age of two were slain by the ruler as he sought to kill the child. Angels and shepherds were at his birth and he was given gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. He was worshipped as the saviour of men and led a moral and humble life. He performed miracles which included healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, casting out devils and raising the dead.He was put to death on the cross between two thieves. He descended to hell and rose from the dead to ascend back to heaven.

Sounds exactly like Jesus doesn’t it? But it’s not. That is how they described the Eastern saviour god known as Khrishna 1,200 years before Jesus is claimed to have been born. If you want a saviour god who died so our sins could be forgiven, take your pick from the ancient world because there are a stream of them. Here are just some of the ‘Son of God’ heroes who play the lead role in stories which mirror those attributed to Jesus and almost all were worshipped long before Jesus was even heard of:

Khrishna of Hindostan; Buddha Sakia of India; Salivahana of Bermuda; Osiris and Horus of Egypt; Odin of Scandinavia; Crite of Chaldea; Zoroaster of Persia; Baal and Taut of Phoenicia; Indra of Tibet; Bali of Afghanistan; Jao of Nepal; Wittoba of Bilingonese; Tammuz of Syria and Babylon; Attis of Phrygia; Xamolxis of Thrace; Zoar of the Bonzes; Adad of Assyria; Deva Tat and Sammonocadam of Siam; Alcides of Thebes; Mikado of the Sintoos; Beddru of Japan; Hesus or Eros, and Bremrillahm, of the Druids; Thor, son of Odin, of the Gauls; Cadmus of Greece; Hil and Feta of Mandaites; Gentaut and Quetzalcoatl of Mexico; Universal Monarch of the Sibyls; Ischy of Formosa; Divine Teacher of Plato; Holy One of Xaca; Fohi and Tien of China; Adonis, son of virgin lo, of Greece; Ixion and Quirinus of Rome; Prometheus of the Caucasus; and Mohammed or Mahomet, of Arabia.
